Today I finally got around to moving some funds around so that I could purchase a couple packs. Every since I got back into Splinterlands is January 2025 (after my 3yr break) I am all in on getting cards and cards and more cards!

Maybe it is because I am a hoarder, maybe it is because I grew up on collecting pokemon cards IRL. Either way I love it and want to get good cards so I can perform better (or at least not be able to use the excuse it's just my lack of cards and not my strategy) 😩

Where it started

If you are familiar with my Splinterlands Guild "NFG Club - Legion II" than you know that @nozem01 is our local WHALE. But one day when I grow up I want to be like him. And since he posted this in our discord...

I knew I had to one up him!

And so I went down my usually rabbit hole and went about buying myself some packs.

SWAP TIME

I gave myself a 0.02 ETH budget to spend. Why 0.02 ETH? Well that is because that is all I had currently to spend. So I sent that over to Hive-Engine and swapped it for Swap.Hive.

That got me 544 Swap.Hive to play with.

And a new thing with these Escalation Packs is that you can buy them via Credits, DEC or SPS. And that got my interest but not soon enough... (foreshadowing)

I immediately swapped over 200 Swap.Hive into DEC and that got me 23,285 DEC.

But that I remembered that the cost for 1 pack was:

• 5,000 Credits ($5)
• 5,000 DEC ($2.934)
• 350 SPS ($2.32)

(according to the prices today on Hive-Engine)

And because I am so smart I did the math and realized that my 23k of DEC would get me 4.65 packs.
But if I swapped 200 Hive to SPS that would get me 2,025 SPS which would get me 5.78 packs.

So I swapped my 200 Hive into SPS!

If I swapped the 400 Hive into SPS it would have gotten me 4,050 SPS which would be 11.57 packs. But lessons were learned today! Do the research FIRST then swap tokens haha

Buying Packs!

Now it's time to buy some packs. I already knew I wasn't going to win anything good from the leaderboard because there are some truly massive whales in Splinterlands that I will never be able to compete with.

But back to me. First things are first, let's see what we are working with:

That is 32k DEC and 2.2k SPS. But I can't spend all my DEC because I need it to stake on LAND and to purchase WILD Format Season Passes.

Buy 4 packs via my DEC. 20k DEC down the drain!

And then since I have a couple hundred SPS laying around I had enough to purchase 6 packs via SPS!

That gives me 10 Escalation Packs in total!

And for now it got me onto the top 250 Leaderboard!

I know that won't last very long but it's nice to see even for a minute.

But it did get me 10 Raffle tickets. So maybe with my measly 10 Raffle Tickets I can win 1 card... maybe!

CONFLICTS

I am also looking forward to Conflicts because only Escalation Cards will be usable in these Conflicts when they drop. So now I gotta think strategy too. Do I save my extra funds to buy singles when they release? Or do I buy as many packs as I can now to get more raffle tickets.. ugh I hate these types of decisions honestly.
