Day 2873 | First Day in Thailand

Thursday was my first full day in Thailand and it was a pretty good one. Where the night before I still was wondering why I was there and didn't fully wanted to be there. This changed on Thursday as I'm adjusting quickly to my new situation. I was up quite early and headed out for a morning walk on the Hua Hin Beach in search for a healthy breakfast. The weather also was much cooler than I imagined and I never really suffered from massive heat at any point.

I didn't really find the perfect option to have a healthy breakfast so I just ended up skipping it and went back to my hotel where I stay waiting for the big Shopping Mall to open in order to swap some euros I brought for Thai Baht. Afterward I went straight to the appartment building to go ask if there were rooms available and the lady showed me around in the place I already had seen on the internet. So we quickly came to an agreement of 29500 Baht and 6000 Baht deposit for a medium-sized unit there for my entire period until July 22nd which incudes all furniture and linnen along with cleaning twice a month.
It's located just next to the thai boxing I plan to join for a month and has a nice swimming pool on the rooftop where I can go swim some laps. I will be moving there on Friday.
Once that was done, I headed again to my hotel to take a short nap and followed it by a walk to explore the Market Village Shopping Mall which actually was way bigger than I expected. I was looking to possibly pick up some flip flops or sandals, maybe a t-shirt with long sleeves and get something to eat in the food court. However, the choice was so overwhelming that I couldn't pick.
I also went to the supermarket but also there I had no clue what to buy which made me look for what I know in Rice Waffles with some 100% peanut butter but I only found the Peanut Butter so I left empty-handed.
I walked back to my hotel to chill and watch some youtube also video-calling my mom. I still had not eaten at that point and also wasn't that hungry really. I did go out in the evening for a walk to exlpore the town and also pass by the Hua Hin Night Market which was quite the experience. I also didn't really find what to eat so I searched for an outdoor food court with live music and while walking to it, I accidentally stumbled to a smaller one called the Patio Oldtown Market where I got some Mango With Sticky Rice and Coconut Milk.

I really enjoyed that meal especially the coconut milk which was way better compared to what I'm used to in Belgium. They often say that you become a mango snob after having been to countries like this but it was pretty much on par with the more expensive mangos you can buy in Belgium.

for just 80 Baht (2.12€) it felt like a steal and I really enjoyed my first thai food, Mango Sticky rice is also on my list now of go-to choices. I must say it was a bit lonely sitting alone on a table in that food court so going forward with plenty of days to go in Thailand I will be looking to get to know some people and if possible go on some dates.
I walked back to my hotel doing a total of 33591 steps on the day quite satisfied on how it went. Once there I took a shower and had a video call with a good friend for an hour before going to bed having a good night sleep.
Next Day Goals: Friday will be all about moving to my condo which is not that far away from the Hotel where I'm staying. I will go for a swim for sure and in the evening there is some kind of festival (Fire Wave Fest) which I intend to go to at the other side of Hua Hin in Khao Thakiab beach.
Nice! Thank you for sharing a glimpse of your adventure in Thailand. Your food seems healthy, too.
