Day 2572 | Going To BattleKart

I started a challenge of taking 100 days off to mainly focus on my health and overall personal development and used this account as a personal blog to keep track of all my activity. I enjoyed it and continued afterward trying to build better habits and find a good balance between health, fitness, work, entertainment, and my personal life...

The plan on Tuesday was to be productive during the day while my cleaning help came. I wanted to update my belgian League excel sheet which for the first week takes quite some time but I did none of that. What I did do however is limit my eating to 1 meal and in the evening I met up with some friend to go do Battle Kart which is karting with an electric cart mario-kart-style. I didn't have too high expectations as I feared it was going to be more something for kids but it actually turned out a really fun experience.

I was also impressed by the technology as everything including the circuit is projected on the floor and there are different games to be played. There were races which were just like mariokart with 5 different power ups

  • Rockets which can be used to hit opponents if you aim and time it right from one side to the other side of the arena. When someone is hit, their kart shuts down for a moment.
  • Machine gun which can be used to hit an opponent right in front of you.
  • Oil which equals the banana of Mario Kart and needs to be dodged not driving over them
  • Shield which I assume protects you against incoming attacks
  • Boost which speeds your kart up and which is most fun

there also was a game more where you splatoon style have to fill up tiles in the arena with your color. The trick there was to target tiles that were not filled yet and make sure you were hitting the side of 2 times so you don't fil up just one. Last, there was the snake game where you pick up pieces and make the longest tail. If you drive into someone else their tail, all the ones you have dissaprear. So the fun thing there is to cut off opponents by using your boost to make sure they run into your tail.

We played a double session which took about 30 minutes and cost 44€. I used all the tricks in the book and actually won nearly all races but there were a couple really fun mario kart moments where I got hit to see a friend pass me for first place only so I could hit him myself right after and pass him again. I also once aimed a rocket from one side of the arena to the other to see it hit which was very enjoyable.

The speed of these karts however can't be compared to real karts and there is also no helmet needed. It might be one of those things I could do with my nieces but at the same time it feels like a single session is too short while a 30 minute session gets too expensive.
