Sometimes you just need a good laugh. There are many British comedy shows out there, but The IT Crowd is a different breed. The writing is very well thought out in every episode. I originally stumbled on the series a few years back on Netflix and quickly became a fan. It's one of those shows where once you start watching it's nearly impossible to stop.

The show focuses primarily on two men and their boss, located in the dingy, basement IT department at Renholm Industries in London. Maurice, the man in the glasses, is a genius. Roy, his Irish counterpart, is shy, sarcastic and quick-witted. Both are socially awkward and inept, while their boss and relationship manager, Jen, is about as non-technically savvy as they come.

The series started in 2006 and ended in 2013, so it's a bit older but very funny. The two men typically get into all sorts of bizarre, hilarious situations. Jen tries to stay out of it, but usually ends up being drawn into the situation one way or another.

One perfect example is an episode where all three are invited to the theater by a coworker. Both men aren't able to use the public restroom with the attendant watching them, so they split up to find other bathrooms to use. One is mistaken as theater staff because they were caught in the staff toilet, and ends up bartending during the show to keep up the act. The other is forced to pretend to be handicapped because he accidentally pulled the emergency cord while sneaking into the handicapped bathroom and thinks he'll go to jail for it. The whole episode had us laughing, and each episode is just as hilarious as the last.

My wife happened to find it for free on Amazon Prime tonight, so of course that was turned on without any hesitation. Two hours went by in no time at all, with plenty of laughs all around. If you haven't seen it, I recommend dedicating at least a couple of hours to it, because you're going to have a hard time stopping after just one or two episodes.
