Refusing to Fail
It seems like this month I'm burning the candle at both ends, yet we're not even a full week into April. It's ridiculous how many things are all coming to a head this month, and they all seem determined to set me up for failure at work. Little do they know, as dirty as life may like to play, I refuse to fail.

It started with my youngest son coming down with a fever Monday night. I had to take Wednesday off to watch him. Thursday is normally my day to get all of my coaching sessions in with my employees and do call evalutions. Instead, the supervisor meeting we normally have earlier in the week got moved right to the middle of my coaching time. I couldn't make it up Friday because I had to stay home again because my son is still sick.
What do I find in the mailbox Friday night? A jury summons scheduled for the entire last week of the month. I likely won't be called to serve, but I won't know for certain until the Sunday night before, so I have to assume the worst and that my whole week there will be gone. To add to this, I have mandatory leadership meetings the 14th through the 16th, so other than Friday that whole week is shot as well.
Despite all of this, I refuse to fail. I'll be doubling up meetings with my employees all of Wednesday through Friday next week, meeting with everyone on Tuesday and Friday the following week, and then doubling up everything Wednesday through Friday the week after. It'll be hell, but it has to be done. With any luck, I won't have to serve on a jury the last week and can just coast, but only time will tell.
In the middle of all the uncertainty, one thing I know with absolute certainty: I'm already over April.
