Gratitude and Hope While Waiting
How many times have we caught ourselves thinking about what we'll do in the future? Suddenly, we snap back to reality and realize we still have some time left before we get there. Sometimes we're actively watching in anticipation, like someone watching and waiting for a pot to begin boiling so they can cook a meal.
Most of us don't enjoy waiting, but it's a part of life. I remember waiting months for Christmas to come this year, knowing my sister and brother-in-law would be visiting from out of state. It was more fun than I imagined and worth the wait.
My oldest son and our dog gave me a unique view of what it looks like from the outside looking in when waiting. My son was looking forward to having one of his friends from school over for a play date. Our dog decided to join him and see who would be arriving.
Watching him and our dog anxiously looking through the glass, waiting for a car to arrive made me smile. Even though something fun hasn't happened just yet, I have some fun plans in the works. While I wait I can have fun waiting, and think about the fun I have planned. Sometimes we're so focused on the fact that nothing is happening right now. Instead, I think we're better off filling that time, and our thoughts, with positive things we're looking forward to. Here's to enjoying the waiting while we all embark on 2026.
