Good Drinks or Good Food?

My wife and I were planning a date night for next week, so we were looking at options. We wanted somewhere with good food and drinks. She suggested a specialty drink bar called Thick as Thieves. It's been getting a lot of positive reviews lately, so we headed over to their website to check it out.

It looked pretty cool at first glance. The way you enter is very unique.

The problem we ran into is that even though they have a great drink selection, there's almost no food available. All they had for food was some meats, cheese, olives, crackers and mini donuts.

This got us onto a side conversation. Since time is limited because of kids, we can only pick one location. We either have to pick a place with good food and limited drinks, good drinks and limited food, or find a compromise of both. As tempting as it was, we decided to pass on Thick as Thieves and save it for another night when we have more time. Instead, we opted for Bardenay, who we know has both good food and good drinks.

If you were limited on time and had to choose only one, would you choose good drinks or good food, and why?

I’d opt for good food. lol. I am not much of a drinker. Plus, I love taking photos of how good the food looks. So if I’m to visit a bar or restaurant, it has to be where the food is good and plated nicely.

Probably depends on how hungry I am, but I am usually always down for at least an appetizer. We have a few places that are probably really cool, but they have limited food options, so we generally skip them. Since I drink a lot of whiskey on the rocks, it's not like I am looking for a killer cocktail.

Yeah, I usually don't go out of my way just for cocktails. I'd typically rather go to a pub, since I can get good food and beer.

They had some good whiskey in that bar! Not cheap I bet though! I like good quality drinks, but tend to drink the good stuff at home. It's much cheaper that way. Good food and friends are more important anyway, wise choice!
