Gold from Skagway, Alaska
My wife and I went on a cruise to Alaska the first week of June. We had a wonderful time. One of the stops was in Skagway. We started the morning off with a high speed river tour and got to see bald eagles and seals. After we were done we went into town to check out some of the shops.
We stopped into Monarch Jewels and looked around. I was originally looking at gold quartz jewelry. As I scanned their selection of rings, one in particular called to me.

It's a gold nugget ring made by Orocal. In addition to the gold nugget in the center they took smaller gold nuggets and gold soldered them to the sides.

I love the natural look of the gold nuggets. Don't get me wrong. I appreciate gemstones, but there's just something mesmerizing about gold nuggets in their natural form when the light hits them.

Now that I have this, a part of me wants to go out panning for gold. I doubt I'd find nuggets, but who cares? I've got the fever! 😆

Cool ring! You should get out panning, it's been years since I went out panning in South Dakota, but I did find a small amount of gold.
Thanks! The biggest thing is I need to start researching where I can go locally to do that.

I remember Skagway was such a fun little town. My patient I accompanied and cared for had a blast there. Accessible only by ship and a bit Touristy but memorable. I wonder if they have improved Wheelchair accessibility there since my last visit?

I think it'd be more challenging in a wheelchair because of the crowds, but it'd be doable at least.

There are a lot of pre-arranged logistic things to plan before taking on a quadriplegic patient in a powered wheelchair on and off a cruise ship.
At the time there is no elevator for wheelchairs to get off ship except the gangway ramp. It took some creative thinking and a little extra help. IT was quite a challenge and new experience to my Nursing skills.

I bet that was challenging. Good on you for making it work!
