Communication Is Vital to Teamwork

Communication is vital in every aspect of our lives. When we are working and interacting with others, it's even more crucial. Achieving a common goal doesn't work well when each person goes off and does their own thing because oftentimes, those actions conflict and hinder progress.

An excellent example of this was the recent Clan vs. Clan match-up I and my clanmates had in Raid Shadow Legends. We were trying to deliberately throw the match because the rewards were very minor. The major Clan vs. Clan coming up in two weeks has far better rewards, but to get an easier match for that, you have to lose the prior CvC.

We had all got to a point where we had each accomplished our major individual goals while keeping our overall score down. We were losing by a decent amount, and we weren't gaining, when suddenly we surged ahead by 40,000 points. That typically means someone is pulling "shards" used to summon champions, and the ones they were pulling were high rarity, so they quickly racked up a huge sum of points.

We figured we'd overlook it in the meantime. To our horror, no, the points continued to climb. I blasted out messages in all caps in the game to tell everyone to stop racking up points. I also had to ping everyone in the clan Discord to stop as well. One person took screenshots to figure out who it was. Finally, that person stopped.

Fortunately, we still lost, so our next match with the higher rewards will be easier.

I meant to get a lower score, but I had an important in-game side mission I had to complete, so it ended up netting me more points than I wanted. I made sure to clear it with others in the clan before I did it, so we'd all be on the same page.

In talking afterward, we're going to adjust our recruitment strategies to bring in more people who communicate regularly in Discord. It's far easier to coordinate there than in the game's chat feature. With that plan in place, I think we'll accomplish a lot more as a team by communicating better and strategizing.
