Avoiding an Entitlement Mindset
I enjoy mobile gaming. I play Raid: Shadow Legends in my downtime for fun, when I'm not writing a post. I was scrolling through the subreddit for the game and someone posted a picture of themselves playing the game by the pool while on vacation. They were complaining that fighting other players in Live Arena will not help you relax while on vacation.

My first thought was, "What idiot spends their time on vacation doing the same thing they do to relax after work?" The whole point of vacation is to get away from regular life and do something outside the norm that's fun and takes your mind off things. I get it if you're doing it on a long car ride, but poolside when you could be relaxing with a drink, swimming or just letting your mind wander?
To make matters worse, they appear to be some entitled kid. The other thought is they could just be making it up for attention on Reddit. Either way, it's alarming that many people don't realize how sad and pathetic this is whichever way you look at it.
Vacation is a privilege not everyone gets to enjoy. The memories you make while spending time with family are priceless. It's sad when people fail to realize they're wasting precious time doing something they can easily do back at home any day of the week.
I can only hope to encourage my kids to focus on the memories and experiences and help them avoid this kind of entitled thinking. I like to ask them about their favorite memories camping, swimming, etc. I think it helps remind them there's more to life than our phones and tablets, and it's healthy to put them down and enjoy the world around us.

I occasionally read when I am on vacation, but I feel like that is kind of different.
I agree. I think reading is different. It stimulates the mind, encourages creativity and is beneficial.

What an idiot and self-entitled. When on vacation you don't spend it playing a video game, especially if you're relaxing by the pool or on the beach. A vacation is a privilege, not everyone can afford them. Maybe once he grows up he'll figure that out!
