Attacked by The Door Latch

It was bad enough that I recently discovered the pressure to the irrigation system had dropped yet again. I've been fighting with it for a week now and trying to figure out the issue. I cleaned the filter, scrubbed the intake valve clear of debris and still I have to re-pressurize it every other day for no apparent reason.

Wednesday morning I tried something different. Our system has a hose connection so if I lose pressure I can re-pressurize it with a simple garden hose. I pressurized the system but kept it running while I turned the system on. It stayed at 20lbs for maybe 30 seconds, dropped rapidly to 10lbs and then lost all pressure even with the hose constantly feeding it. I was exasperated and had to quickly head off to work.

In my haste, I thought I had secured the back porch door latch. I was wrong. It slipped and started to spin, so I thought I'd be smooth and flick my finger to get it to counter-spin and catch the loop. Wrong again. Instead, the hook decided to catch my middle finger and tear it open right along the skin crease behind the middle knuckle.

We only had one butterfly bandage that didn't quite want to stay, so I had to reinforce it with duct tape. Fortunately it's healing nicely and won't require stitches, but it's been an obnoxious few days trying to keep it immobilize but also be able to type. Why I didn't file down the tip of the latch is beyond me, but that's on the short list of things to do.

I ended up having to upgrade it to a gauze pad with antibacterial cream and medical tape. The Band-aid and duct tape just wasn't cutting it.
