Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - Round #410 Shadow delivery! [Eng/Esp]
Hello friends of Shadow Hunters! Welcome to my entry in this week's SMASH contest round #410! My favorites are the ones I find in natural spaces, and the institute where I work has many such places. But this time, I had to stay home since we haven't resumed classes yet, and because there's still some uncertainty, I decided to go out and buy my mother's blood pressure medication. She has to take it regularly, so I need to keep a good supply on hand until things calm down in Caracas.
Just as I was heading to the pharmacy, I saw a delivery guy go by. I'd seen him from a block away; he was really in a hurry. He stopped in front of a bakery, and I watched him quickly unload three medium-sized sacks of flour from his bicycle. When I got to the block where he'd left his bike, I immediately noticed the shadow it cast in the 2 p.m. sun, and I thought, "This is the perfect shadow for this week's SMASH!" Without a second thought, I snapped several pictures.

The first photos I took were right after I arrived, after I'd already crossed the block and the delivery guy had finished handing over the three sacks of flour. He had two in the back basket and one in the front. I would have liked to take pictures during that process to capture the shadow he cast, but he did it so fast that I didn't have time to capture the moment. But the mere shadow cast by the bicycle, from the rims, handlebars, and even the baskets it carried, is pristinely projected in its shadow. The great definition of this shadow was largely thanks to the clear sky that gifted me this wonderful image. Then I took a photograph from the front to better capture the bicycle's shadow. It wasn't easy because there were many people passing by, but I found the right moment to capture the shadow closer up. As it was leaning against the long lamppost, you can also see the long shadow of this post crossing the bicycle's shadow, forming this brilliant composition of light and shadow.
Well, friends, I hope you liked this shadow! I think it's because I'm a biologist that we're taught to pay attention to details, and seeing that whole delivery process really caught my attention. I only regret not being able to capture the shadow of the process itself. When I did fieldwork as a biologist, we didn't just study biogeography, but also the customs and occupations of the people who live in those natural environments. And seeing the different jobs people do every day is something that really fascinates me, and I enjoy capturing those moments in photographs. Hola amigos de Shadow Hunters! Sean bienvenidos a mi participación en el round #410 del concurso SMASH de esta semana! Cuando se trata de cazar sombras siempre es un proceso de gran creatividad para mi a lo largo de la semana, mis favoritas son aquellas que encuentro en espacios naturales y el instituto donde trabajo hay muchos lugares asi, pero en esta ocasión tuve que mantenerme en casa ya que todavía no retomamos actividades docentes y como aún hay cierta incertidumbre decidí salir a comprar las medicinas de mi madre para la tensión. Debe tomarlas constantemente asi que debo mantener una buena cantidad hasta que la ciudad de Caracas este más calmada.
Justo cuando me dirigía a la farmacia vi pasar a un repartidor, lo vi desde una cuadra anterior, estaba realmente apresurado, se detuvo en frente de una panadería y lo vi descargar de su bicicleta 3 sacos medianos de harina rápidamente. Cuando llegué a la cuadra donde había dejado su bicicleta noté inmediatamente la sombra que generaba con el sol de las 2 de la tarde y dije esta es la sombra perfecta para el SMASH de esta semana y sin pensarlo 2 veces tomé varias fotografías.

Las primeras fotos que les tomé fue recien llegando, cuando ya había cruzado la cuadra y ya el repartidor había entregado los 3 paquetes de harina, llevaba 2 en la cesta posterior y una en la delantera, me habría gustado tomarle fotos durante ese proceso para capturar la sombra que generaba durante el proceso pero lo hizo tan rápido que no me dio tiempo de capturar el momento. Pero la sola sombra que generaba la bicicleta, desde los rines, manubrios y también las cestas que llevaba todo se ve prístinamente proyectado en su sombra, en buena parte la gran definición de esta sombra fue gracias al cielo tan despejado que me regalo esta maravillosa sombra, luego le tomé una fotografía de frente para capturar mejor la sombra de la bicicleta, no fue fácil porque había mucha gente pasando pero encontré el momento adecuado para capturar la sombra más de cerca, como estaba apoyándose del largo poste de la luz, también se observa la larga sombra de este poste atravesando la sombra de la bicicleta formando esta genial composición de luz y sombra.
Bien amigos, espero que esta sombra les haya gustado! Creo que es por ser biólogo que nos enseñan a estar atento a los detalles y ver todo ese proceso de delivery me llamó mucho la atención, solo lamento no haber podido capturar la sombra del proceso. Cuando hacía salidas de campo como biólogo no solo hacíamos estudios de biogeografía, sino de las costumbres y oficios de las personas que viven en esos ambientes naturales. Y justamente ver los distintos oficios de personas que llevan el día a día es un proceso que realmente me llama mucho la atención y disfruto capturar esos momentos en fotografías, pero en definitiva, con esta sombra capturo parte del oficio diario de un repartidor.
