Shadow Hunters SMASh Contest - Round #417 Shadows at Work [Eng/Esp]
Hello everyone, dear Shadow Hunters community! Wishing you all a peaceful and restful weekend, I’m here to share this week's shadow entry for the SMASH round #417 contest. Well, I actually stumbled upon this shadow right when I arrived at work—very early in the morning. I had been thinking I might step out and wander around the Institute's arboretum, but unfortunately, one of my students was already about to arrive, so I was obliged to stay in the lab to greet her. While waiting for her, I decided to make some coffee; I had woken up late that morning, and in my rush, I hadn't had time to brew any at home. As you can imagine, I wasn't exactly in the best of moods at that moment. However, as the coffee began to brew—and its aroma started to fill the lab—I felt my spirits lift. My senses sharpened, and with that very first sip, I was fully energized.
As I drank my coffee, I noticed that the skies were clearing, and the first rays of sunlight began to cast shadows inside the laboratory—projecting them from the window blinds onto the floor. I found myself gazing at the blinds, struck by how ancient they looked; judging by their worn appearance, I imagine they must have been hanging there for decades. I leaned out the window and saw the sun already rising above the hills surrounding the Institute; its light cast the shadows of those blinds onto the wall.

I ended up having to take several photos because the sky wasn't entirely clear; the shadow would occasionally lose its intensity, so I had to wait for the clouds to pass before snapping the shot again. Since it was still very early, the sun wasn't very high in the sky, so no shadows were cast by the boxes sitting on the counter. It would have been great to capture those, but I’m content with the shape that formed on the wall instead. The lower shadow belongs to the wall beneath the windows, projecting at an angle; the blinds appear parallel to one another—like columns—seemingly cascading from top to bottom, while the shadow cutting across them halfway down comes from the window's metal frame. Unfortunately, the rest of the day remained overcast right up until I left. What I had really wanted to capture was the movement of this shadow as the sun rose, since it should have appeared increasingly slanted as we approached noon.
I finished enjoying my coffee—pleased to have "hunted" down this shadow—and got to work. It turned out to be quite a long and laborious day, but it felt satisfying knowing that the weekend was just around the corner. I hope you enjoyed this shadow, friends; see you at the next SMASH! Best regards!

Hola a todos apreciada comunidad de Shadow Hunters! Deseándoles un tranquilo y reparador fin de semana, vengo a compartirles la sombra de esta semana para el concurso SMASH round#417 y pues bien, esta sombra la encontré justo cuando llegué muy temprano al trabajo, pensaba que podría salir y merodear en el arboretum del Instituto pero lamentablemente una de mis estudiantes ya estaba por llegar así que eso me obligó a quedarme en el laboratorio para recibirla. Mientras esperaba su llegada decidí hacer un poco de café porque me levanté tarde y por la prisa no tuve tiempo de prepararme mi café en casa, así que se imaginarán que no estaba de muy buen humor en ese momento, pero al momento de colarse el café y su aroma comenzaba a perfundir los espacios del laboratorio comencé a sentirme de mejor animo, mis sentidos se agudizaron y con el primer sorbo del café me active definitivamente.
Mientras bebía el café me di cuenta que los cielos se estaban despejando y los primeros rayos de sol formaron las primeras sombras dentro del laboratorio, proyectadas por las persianas hacia el suelo, me quedé viendo las persianas y lo antiguas que se veían, imagino que están allí desde hace décadas por lo viejas que lucían. Me asomé por la ventana y vi el sol ya sobre las colinas que rodean el instituto, su luz proyecto la sombra de estas persianas sobre la pared.

Tuve que tomarle varias fotos porque el cielo no estaba totalmente despejado asi que la sombra algunas veces perdía fuerza la sombra y tuve que esperar que pasara la nube y tomar la foto de nuevo. Como aún era muy temprano el sol no estaba tan alto así que no se formó sombras de las cajas que están en el mesón, habría sido genial capturarlas pero me conformo con la forma que se generó en la pared. La sombra inferior es la del muro debajo de las ventanas que se proyecta de forma inclinada y las persianas se ven paralelas entre ellas como si fueran columnas parecen caer de arriba hacia abajo, la sombra que las corta en la mitad es del marco metálico de la ventana. Lamentablemente el resto del día hasta que me fui se mantuvo nublado, lo que quería capturar era el movimiento de esta sombra a medida que el sol se levantaba porque la sombra debería verse más inclinada a medida que nos movíamos al mediodía.
Terminé de disfrutar mi café contento por cazar esta sombra y me puse a trabajar, fue un día bastante largo y laborioso, pero fue satisfactorio sabiendo que ya estaba por comenzar el fin de semana. Espero que esta sombra les haya gustado amigos y nos vemos en el próximo SMASH. Saludos!
