My participation in the #SMARP Contest - Round #276: Chasing Reflections on Campus [Eng/Esp]

Happy Friday, Shadow Hunters community! I just got back from the university after a grueling day preparing the reagents for my lab session next week. I'm practically chained to these labs; I haven't had time for anything else, so my universe is practically the lab buildings and the campus. I arrived early at the labs, under a pesky drizzle. I also had to climb seven flights of stairs because the elevators weren't working, and after catching my breath, I had to get to work preparing the reagents for the lab session. That's why I said today was exhausting. When I finished, all the entrances to the dean's office, where I usually wait for a taxi when I don't come in my own car, were closed. So I had to cross the campus, between the Physics and Chemistry schools in what they call Lobster Square, and to my surprise, I got the reflection I was looking for to share with you in this SMARP round #276.

I was amazed that these puddles of water withstood the intense sun, which was already blazing down from 10 a.m.! All the puddles in the parking lot evaporated almost immediately, but this puddle in Lobster Plaza persisted, even at 1 p.m., as if waiting for my arrival to share the reflection I had to show. From afar they seemed very small, but as I got closer I found a whole series of perspectives that reflected different parts of the campus. The first ones I took were of the canopy of trees formed by the large trees that seem to envelop the plaza, contrasting with the intense blue of the sky and the white clouds. These are the kind of photographs I love the most: of the sky with clouds or of a canopy of trees. Here I had all three in a single reflection!

I continued moving around these two puddles to get more interesting reflections, including that of the large building of the experimental physics laboratories, which brings back very fond memories of my student days. But the best reflection was the one I captured of a student walking through the plaza. I think he didn't notice I was photographing the puddle, or perhaps he was on his way to take an exam and didn't notice me. He walked right past me, his reflection from the waist up—his complement, because in the photo you can only see him from the waist down! I think that reflection perfectly captures the spirit of a science student: hours of dedication, studying, lab work, and rushing off to take an exam in another room. It was definitely a good idea to deviate from my usual route after finishing my work at the university. Perhaps it was meant to be that I would pass by there to capture these magnificent reflections before the sun evaporated the mirrors of water formed in the puddle.

Well, friends, this was my weekly contribution to SMARP, which I thoroughly enjoyed. Although I arrived quite tired from today's activities, I immediately started writing, as I was still filled with the emotions I felt visiting this part of campus. I hope you enjoyed it. Feliz viernes comunidad de Shadow Hunters! Acabo de volver de la Universidad después de un día desgastante preparando los reactivos para mi práctica de laboratorio que será la próxima semana, prácticamente estoy amarrado a estos laboratorios, no he tenido tiempo de hacer otra cosa por lo que mi universo prácticamente son los edificios de laboratorio y el campus de la Facultad. Llegué temprano a los laboratorios, bajo una molesta llovizna, tuve además que subir los 7 pisos porque no estaban funcionando los ascensores y después de recobrar el aliento tuve que fajarme a preparar los reactivos de la práctica de laboratorio, por eso les decía que fue desgastante este día. Cuando terminé habían cerrado todos los accesos del decanato que es donde suelo esperar el taxi para irme cuando no vengo en mi carro, así que tuve que atravezar el campus, entre la escuela de Física y Química en lo que llaman la Plaza de la Langosta y para mi sorpresa conseguí el reflejo que estaba buscando para compartirles en este SMARP round #276.

Me pareció impresionante que estos charcos de agua soportaran el intenso sol que ya desde las 10 de la mañana esta en pleno apogeo infernal! Todos los charcos del estacionamiento se evaporaron casi inmediatamente, pero este charco de la plaza la Langosta persistía, aún cuando ya eran la 1 pm alli estaban, como esperando el momento de mi llegada para compartir el reflejo que tenía que mostrar. De lejos parecían muy pequeños, pero al acercarme encontré toda una serie de perspectivas que reflejaban distintas partes del campus, las primeras que tomé fueron de la bóveda arbórea que formaban los grandes arboles que parecen arropar la plaza, tiendo como contraste el intenso azul del cielo y las nubes blancas, estas son el tipo de fotografías que más me encantan, del cielo con nubes o de una bóveda Arborea, aquí tenía las 3 cosas en un solo reflejo!

Seguí moviéndome alrededor de estos 2 charcos para conseguir más reflejos interesantes, entre ellos el del gran edificio de los laboratorios experimentales de física que me traen muy buenos recuerdos de cuando era estudiante, pero el mejor reflejo fue el que capturé de un estudiante pasando por la plaza, creo que no notó que estaba fotografiando el charco o quizás iba camino a presentar un examen que no notó mi presencia y paso exactamente al lado reflejándose de la cintura para arriba es decir su complemento porque en la foto solo se ve de la cintura para abajo! Creo que ese reflejo representa exactamente el espíritu del estudiante de Ciencias, horas de dedicación, estudio, prácticas de laboratorio y salir corriendo para atender un examen en otro salón. En definitiva fue una buena idea desviarme de la ruta que normalmente tomo cuando termino mis labores en la universidad, quizás estaba predestinado que pasará por allí para capturar estos magníficos reflejos antes de que el sol evaporara estos espejos de agua formados en un charco.

Y bien amigos, este fue mi aporte semanal al SMARP y que he disfrutado bastante, aunque llegué bastante cansado de la jornada de hoy, inmediatamente me puse a escribir, ya que tenía en mi cabeza las emociones que me causó visitar esta parte del campus.
