My participation in the Phone Photography Contest! - #70: In the shadow of the Great Clock Tower of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) [Eng/Esp]

Hello friends of feel Good and hivers! Welcome to my entry in the Phone Photography contest, which I've grown very fond of and which has motivated me to seek out ever more special places or moments to share with you. For this #70 edition, I wanted to share a routine that has become somewhat monotonous for me due to the many daily tasks in my work as a university professor. But when you recount the history and the profound significance of the monuments that adorn the spaces of the university campus, you understand why the University City is considered a cultural monument of humanity.

The photo you're seeing is the UCV Clock Tower, which I'd say is the UCV's most iconic monument. When you graduate, it's almost a tradition to take a photo under the shadow of the large clock. Recently restored, this clock is now working again, which has been a great joy for us at the Central University of Venezuela (UCV). This monument is located in the rector's open plaza, where we can see another monument: La Cultura.

La Cultura was originally located on the terrace of the UCV's great central library, the large red building that rises from the parking lot. For us, this library is equally iconic; it's the equivalent of our great Library of Alexandria. Here resides every written thesis, every monograph, and every book produced by decades of research at the UCV. In short, I see these three monuments every day, every time I finish my work day at the faculty, and I wanted to share them with you as a small sample of why these spaces in the university city are considered a cultural heritage of humanity.

Hola amigos de feel Good y hivers! Sean bienvenidos a mi participación en el concurso Phone Photography al que le he tomado un gran cariño y me ha motivado a buscar lugares o momentos cada vez más especiales para compartirlos con ustedes. Para esta edición #70 he querido compartirles una rutina que para mi se ha vuelto ya un tanto monótona por tantas tareas del día a día en mi trabajo como docente universitario, pero cuando relatas la historia y el profundo significado de los monumentos que adornan los espacios del campus universitarios entiendes porque la Ciudad Universitaria es considerada un monumento cultural de la humanidad.

La foto que estas viendo es el monumento llamado la Torre del Reloj de la UCV del que yo diría que es el monumento más icónico de la UCV, cuando te gradúas es casi una tradición ir a tomarte una foto bajo la sombra del gran reloj. Recientemente restaurado actualmente este reloj ha vuelto a dar la hora nuevamente lo que ha sido una gran alegría para nosotros que hacemos vida en la Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV). Este monumento se encuentra en la plaza descubierta del rectorado donde podemos ver otro monumento: La Cultura.

La ubicación de La Cultura originalmente estaba en la terraza de la gran biblioteca central de la UCV que es el gran edificio rojo que se levanta desde los estacionamientos. Para nosotros esta biblioteca es igualmente icónica, es el equivalente a nuestra gran biblioteca de Alejandría, aquí descansa cada tesis escrita, cada monografía y cada libro producto del trabajo de décadas de investigación en la UCV. En resumen estos 3 monumentos los veo todos los días cada vez que termino mi jornada de trabajo en la facultad y que quise compartirles como una pequeña muestra de porque estos espacios de la ciudad universitaria se consideran un patrimonio cultural de la humanidad.
