THE BRO WEEKLY SHOWCASE | TAKE YOUR PICK!

In this post, we will be giving you some posts curated by @brofi that caught our attention. We are not quantity but quality based humour, weird knowledge, diversity, project updates and we don't mind lengthy posts at all, however, we are looking for more than just words.

You earn the BRO curation by holding bro, the more you have, the more you get. Still, we look out for quality and not shit posts. Holding Bro doesn't guarantee you votes if you do not give quality material. Without further delay, in no particular order, here are some posts that caught our eye over the past week:

Contrasting Worlds | Back in Time at Old Dubai by @arrliinn

During my sister’s recent vacation here in the UAE, we stayed in Dubai in her first two days (or was it three?! Gosh, has it really been almost two months?!). We witnessed the towering sky scrapers and then on the second day, we decided to take a detour. We went into Al Seef (as per our AI-driven itinerary), a place often described as “old Dubai,” and it felt like stepping through a portal into a different era.
From the very efficient and modern train system, this time, we tried the abra, Dubai's traditional ferry boat, to get from the Gold Souk to the other side of the Dubai Creek. It was a fun experience that cost us AED 1 ($0.27) each.

Burning Rising Star Cards Getting the wrong synth down to the yard by @stickupmusic

untitled.gif

well they said they wanted more synths, which is no problem as we love synths. However we have been busy so order a load of the internet....sometimes you just dont get what you want when you do that. I mean what do you do with so many sax players? The sound of jazz is still ringing in my ears and as we left the yard there were some classic 80's solos coming from the distance, so it was a bit carelss to order of the net and we wont do it again.

Bright-Colored Decomposers by @ifarmgirl

I mentioned before that colored mushrooms or fungi are rare here, so these were an exciting find for me today. Unfortunately, my phone camera couldn't take more decent shots than these, reminding me of the need to buy something better. I'm sharing them anyway, lol!
They are tiny, by the way. According to GL, they are white rot decomposer fungi. Another source identified it as the Cinnabar polypore, which is a medicinal mushroom, the kind that grows year-round on fallen wood.

🐛🦁 TIL About Wormlions 🐛 🦁 by @trumpman

Allow me to introduce you to the family of family Vermileonidae. This is a type of fly of about 80 species in which the larvae also build pits in sandy areas and feed on small prey that happens to fall into.
Their pits work pretty much in the same way. The prey gets trapped by its own weight, thanks to collapsing loose sand, which in turn alerts the wormlion. The hunter then starts to inject venom and digestive fluids to the prey and soon after..Dinner is ready.

Why You Shouldn't Sit on the Ground in Japan by @dbooster

A recent Japan Times article mentioned a bit of culture shock Japanese people feel around tourists: the way so many foreigners just plop themselves down everywhere — on the train platform, in front of a convenience store, even on the doorsteps of random buildings.[1]
This is one of those small-but-not-small things. It’s not a crime. No one's going to arrest you. And in places like Europe or the US, it wouldn’t raise an eyebrow. In fact, I bet most of you reading this see absolutely nothing wrong with this and probably would even do it yourself.
But in Japan, this behavior turns heads.
