On The Hunt

Tomorrow is November 15th, and in my neck of the woods, that means just one thing. It's the opening day of firearm deer season. If it fell on a weekday instead of a weekend, the school district where I work would be closed. It used to be they were worried about stray bullets in the early morning hitting a bus or something like that, but these days I think it has more to do with attendance than anything.

There is a certain threshold of students we need to have present to be able to count it as a day of instruction. If most of the kids (and adults) are gone, we can't count it. I have a feeling that would be the more likely case.

Already trucks full of hunters are heading up north on their way to deer camp. @mrsbozz and I work in a town that is a conduit for heading up north. It also has a number of stores that hunters enjoy stopping at to grab supplies and provisions on their way north, so things are probably going to get a bit crazy around here today.

While hunters hunt for whitetail deer hoping to snag that buck with a huge rack, some of us are spending our weekend trying to find some hope in the crypto markets. It's odd because the traditional markets seem to be doing quite well. Just when we thought the crypto markets and the traditional markets were somehow tied together, we see a significant dip that runs counter to what the traditional markets are doing. After riding over $100K for so long, it's a bit sad to see things closing in on that $94K mark.

Silver

I finally got around and made my silver buys for the holiday season. I'm not participating in the secret santa thing this year, but I needed to get a couple of pieces for my nephew and I also picked up a piece for my great niece who just celebrated her first birthday the other day. I'll share better photos of them when I actually get the pieces in, but I was really hit by the prices.

I think the spot price of silver was something like $48.50 when I made these buys. The premiums are just a bit out of control. Sure, if I was just stacking I could have gotten more mundane pieces that didn't carry as high of a premium, but I like getting something fun for my nephew. He is still young enough that certain things are cool, so yeah.

The good news is because I spent so much money I didn't have to pay shipping and handling. I decided to purchase online this year versus visiting my local bullion store. I feel a little bad about that, but I just don't know when I would have the time to get over there. Plus, with them being so close, it's not like I still couldn't stop in...

I've gotta get the rest of my Christmas shopping done first before I buy more stuff for myself!

Holozing

If you haven't been paying attention, the @holozing team fixed the daily rewards so you now get paid ZING for the vials that you have opened. I am back to getting about 2000 ZING per day from my collection rewards. Today should also be one of the last days my staked ZING gets powered down.

In case you don't remember, staked ZING only earns about 2.74% APR. On the other hand, pooled ZING earns closer to 53% APR, so I decided to pull 500,000 of my staked ZING and pool it with swap.hive to earn more ZING. Of course there is some risk involved in pooling, but this is all fake Internet money anyway, so what the heck right?

SMR

NuScale Power had their earnings meeting last week and the numbers came in lower than they were hoping. They lost something like $1.74 per share and they are now working with some other companies to allow them to sell their shares to generate more revenue. As you might imagine, this has sent the stock price tumbling from the $45 range per share to closer to $25 per share. I still have faith in SMR and if the price falls much closer to $20 or below, I will likely pick up some more shares.

The only question is how many...

The Pub

The new community on HIVE, The Pub is starting to fill up with content. I'd like to see some more posts there, but I know it will take time. I think once we get some more stuff in there we might have a good chance of getting some curators to give us more than just a cursory glance.

At the very least, you are pretty much guaranteed an upvote from me if you post in The Pub, as long as you follow the content guidelines. We haven't had to purposely mute anyone yet, but I know it is probably just a matter of time.

We also have a Discord server. Feel free to stop in and have a drink when you get the chance.

Just a reminder, "The Pub" is a theme. Your posts can be about anything, it doesn't have to be Pub related. Like most local pubs, all manner of subject matter is often thrown around at any given time. Feel free to pontificate on the meaning of life, or go off on that crazy drunken rant that makes everyone just smile and nod...

I hope this weekend doesn't end up being too painful for any of us!

Take it easy out there!

Is that a deer hunting event? Do you get any protest or anything over it? Boxing day hunting used to be a major event in the UK, but now it's been downscaled quite a lot due to protests by the activists.

No, people would be so outnumbered if they tried that around here, I don't think they even bother. The hunting is actually a good thing. It feeds families and it keeps the population low so people don't die hitting them with their car. I mean people still hit them with their car, but it would likely be a lot worse if we just let them go.

Good old deer hunting season... I remember that when I was younger, my father wasn't much of a hunter so I never went hunting. But I remember liking being out school!

Silver is at a good price right now, so probably a good buy there. SMR might be a good chance to pick up some extra shares at a good price. They are a solid company, hopefully they pick up some more deals soon to increase the earnings. You never know, but I think the technology really is the future at least until hydrogen fusion becomes workable.

I'll have to put a post up over on the PUB soon, sounds like fun. It's been a busy week and I barely even finding time to get posts put together! I guess better to be in demand than the other way around!

Yeah, my dad wasn't much of a hunter either, but we went bow hunting once and I took hunters safety classes. I still have a lot of hope for nuscale.

Your breakfast is very tempting. It makes me want to eat it too. Will you invite me one day?

Those silver coins show prices $6 to $9 over the spot... Doesn't sound like a great investment, I remember buying my Sprott Physical silver at $12 to $15 spot prices plus around 5 to 10% discount for the ETF in 2020...

Current discount to NAV is only 4% so this means silver is hot right now...

It should be fine if the price goes up. They are more collectors pieces for my relatives.

The money rotation could come our way as well… It’s best of the time awaits. Your passive collection could be doing good anytime in future.
I am slowly moving towards asian market from wall st, the money game is flowing here and there, so planning to stick to where money has consolidated for longer terms.
Wish you the best.
