Life's Left Turns
Left turns are hard. In fact, there is a whole school of thought dedicated to avoiding them. Have you ever heard of a jug handle? People in New Jersey know what I am talking about. Just ask @silverd510 or @brianmillergallery sometime. I'll be the first to admit that when @mrsbozz and I are out and we have a list of places we need to go and things we need to do, I often plan our route based on having to make the fewest left turns.
When there is a light or a signal, it isn't such a big deal, but when you are in a business and you have to turn left across a busy five lane road, it can get pretty intimidating. Sometimes you get lucky and that middle fifth lane is a turn lane you can illegally ride for a bit until it is safe to get over, but that isn't always the case.
Life is full of left turns as well. I've been getting hit with a ton of them lately. It's not like huge things, but all these little inconveniences that keep building up and throwing life for a loop. These left turns often make us feel like our life and our time are not our own, and that in my opinion is one of the worst feelings there is.
There's an old saying that goes something like "man plans, God laughs" and my guess is the laughter is most likely because a left turn got thrown in there somewhere. The markets have been giving us a lot of left turns as well. The big bull market we hoped was "right" around the corner never showed up because we ended up taking a left. I'll be the first to admit that my faith in altcoins is finally starting to wane. Many people saw this from the get go, but I kept holding out hope it wouldn't necessarily be true.
I have some monthly buys on Coinbase that I have been making for a couple years now. I finally shut down a lot of them and shifted those buys to ETH, BTC, and either SOL or BNB. I can't quite remember now. It just feels like the smarter play at this point.
Even HIVE is feeling a bit like a massive left turn now. I have a full post in the works that I am saving for a later date, but it's hard not to take note of all the projects that are shutting down on our beloved blockchain. Rising Star, Precious, Bee Swap... It almost feels like the dominoes are starting to fall. What will be left when everything is done toppling. I've been asked a couple times about joining the HIVE Thrive interview thing and I really don't know how to answer right now because I'm just not as positive as I used to be.
As I said in my post last week, even my hope and joy in Splinterlands is starting to fall to the wayside.
I'm still excited about GoMining though. That feels like a project with a lot of potential even though it has been around for quite a while now. They just launched 12 Watt miners, and my GMT stake along with my 15 Watt miner is earning me a small amount of money each week.
With the price of BTC turning a little to the upside, I'm actually seeing the value of my GoMining account go up instead of down which most of my other accounts seem to be doing lately. The real test will come when I am ready to exit and I need to sell my miner. If I can get someone to buy it for close to what I paid for it, then it will be worth it.
That's a long way down the road though.
Unfortunately, the problem with left turns is even after you navigate one of them safely, there is always another one right down the road. Does your life feel like it has been full of left turns lately?

I feel you more than you know. I have lost a lot of faith in crypto in general. It has such promise and now feels like another grift when those in power go involved. When it comes to life I don't think they tell us how hard it can be. Living is a constant struggle and things have gotten hard for all of us. Even though it's hard it's also beautiful and we need to just hold on to the small things we can control.

It would be right turns here :) I think crypto gets less attention now AI is the Hot New Thing. Investors may be over there, but things like Hive still have utility when the alternative is closed platforms.
Haha, that is a good point about the right turns! Here you blew my whole argument! :) As someone else mentioned, I think prediction markets have taken a huge share of speculative funds too.

Yes Sir, we've had few unpleasant surprises these past few years with life events, investments, and people. I try really hard not to dwell on them and handle them with a measure of grace because it seems as if the more attention you give them, or the more disappointed you get, the more they snowball. In contrast I look back at the time period between 2016 and 2019 and it's weird how those years were almost the polar opposite—so many phenomenal experiences, friendships, and successes. Sometimes life events seem out of our control, disconnected from our decision-making, based on pure luck. Churchill said, "If you are going through hell, keep going." and that rings so true for me sometimes. As for the markets, you're smart to divorce yourself from alts. I believe if there's no real utility to them then they're going to flounder. Money has moved elsewhere—prediction markets, stock market, AI, etc. As for Hive, I just don't know. Sometimes I feel as though we need a real intervention to decide which direction we want things to go. Decentralization is wonderful in a lot of aspects but there needs to be cohesion when it comes to a roadmap of growth. I feel like this is what's missing.
Very great thoughts there. I'm actually worried I won't touch on them all. I agree that life is like seasons and while they might not follow the traditional seasons, they have their ups and downs. Also very true that there isn't much else we can do but move forward through it. I'm here till HIVE goes to zero, but where I used to think that wasn't likely, it's starting to feel more possible now.

I had to follow my own advice about grace yesterday. Lol. We had some trees planted in the backyard and got a couple of Treegators to help keep them watered. I attached the hose to a spigot in the back (that we've never used before) and turned on the water supply to it. Suddenly I heard water rushing—the supply line to the spigot was gushing inside walls. Another thing the previous owners likely hid from us and our inspector didn't find. For now we have a dehumidifier running and when we get back from our trip to Ohio this week we'll have to open up the walls. Deep breaths. I don't think Hive is a lost cause quite yet but I do think there needs to be some kind of coordinated effort to decide on a cohesive path forward and that should probably happen pretty quickly.
Oh man, that sucks! I'm so sorry! I made an unexpected trip to Ohio myself today. It ended up being a grand disaster in a lot of ways, but also kind of good in some other ways.
Thanks my friend. It was horrendously stressful, especially after the chimney cap failed last summer and created a waterfall down our chimney. We've certainly been through it with this house. The home inspector we hired should have his license pulled. Also the previous owners should be ashamed of themselves for cosmetically covering up so many issues. The good news is after 48hrs the dehumidifier is pulling less water and the walls will probably be dried out before we hit the road for Ohio.
That is good news! We had a really good inspector do ours, but I think he is retired now. In the future we would probably have my buddy do it now that he is licensed for that. He'd probably be the one fixing any of the issues anyway, so hopefully he would pay really close attention to everything!
Yes, I don't think we'll have to worry about mold. I was also thankful the leak happened on a pipe we didn't have to shut the main water line down for so we can put the fix off until July when we're back. Both of those things are blessings. I won't be using this particular inspector ever again. I also want to be there when when/if we buy another house. I'll probably create a checklist myself of vital things to inspect and make sure the inspector checks them all off.

The good old Jersey left! I've only ever seen that arrangement in Jersey, it's odd to go to your right to make a left turn! It's been years since I've seen that now...
Things are heading very left, I agree and it's got me concerned. It has for sometime and more and more projects fail almost on a weekly basis. I'm glad you're GoMining is going well, and hopefully BTC will be making a slight upturn in the next few months. It would be nice to see it pushing the limits of $150K again. It may take some time, but it will come!

Yes, we are babysitting our great niece this weekend, so we are staying pretty close to home. I think BTC will definitely recover, but I don't know if it will pull the other tokens along with it like we have seen in the past. Part of the reason I am moving towards being more of a BTC maxi.

Absolutely. quite a narrative, the DCAing thing has occured me in the same way. But sticking to what feels safe in the chaos. All those DCA's sometimes feel hopeless to me, which I myself did for 2 years.

In this post is some of the evidence to prove my case
If you didn't know I've been getting downvoted for a long time on Hive
They have been trying to bully me with downvotes and words but it doesn't affect me I've been online for over 25 years
So I've dealt with people like this before it's nothing new
But what they are doing is bad Very badi joined steemit like everyone else thinking it offers freedom but I must say steemit offered much more freedom than Hive does
Everyone already knows I only post my own original content I have no need to steal anything from anyone
I've been labelled a lot of things on Hive 😂 by the biggest farmers scammers and downvoters
Actions speak louder than any words do especially when them words are coming from a compolsive liars
