You Win Some...

Unfortunately, things didn't go quite as well as I had hoped for the Tiffin Dragons this past weekend in the G-MAC conference tournament. After having fallen into the bottom half of the bracket after a loss to Findlay earlier in the week, they had a tough fight ahead of them to get back in the game. They had a nice walk of win over Northwood to send them packing, but then a bad loss against Hillsdale to send the Dragons home.

The funny thing is, they have been dominating Hillsdale the past couple of years, so it's honestly just dumb luck that they weren't able to take the game this past weekend. Findlay beat Ashland in the top part of the bracket to send Ashland to an elimination game against Hillsdale. Hillsdale fell to Ashland on Friday night to set up another match up between Findlay and Ashland.

Since Findlay hasn't lost a single game this means that they only need to beat Ashland once on Saturday to take the tournament. However, if Ashland wins the first game, then they will have to play a second game since it is a double elimination tournament.

The good news is, even though they got knocked out of the tournament, the regular season record for Tiffin was so good that they have made their way to the Division II tournament. Although the bracket hasn't been officially filled yet, I am pretty sure they made it. They are currently 4th in the midwest division, so a trip to the regionals is pretty much a given.

Meanwhile, Radford finds themselves starting their conference tournament on May 7th with their first game against UC Upstate at noon. Unlike Tiffing, Radford needs to win this tournament to have a chance to be in the national tournament. As much as I would love to see my niece soon, I'd rather she keeps playing softball with her team as long as possible. It's going to be some tough competition for the Highlanders and the ladies really need to get their bats going if they want a chance to win.

Pitching alone isn't going to do it for them...

I've got a ton more sports stuff for you this week, but I am going to leave things for now.
