Wild Weekend

The NFL wild card weekend is officially in the books and I can't say I am too sad about the way it all went down. What I can say is the more I watch the NFL, the harder it is to believe that some of the games are not totally scripted. If they are going for the thrill factor, then they absolutely had it in just about all the games this past weekend.
I'm actually on the fence trying to figure out if the whole thing is rigged or if it just means that all of the teams are so closely matched. Of course the optimist in me wants to believe that these games are the epitome of fair, but I think we all know that likely isn't 100% accurate these days. Its might not be outright cheating, but biases come into the mix implicit or not.
When you look at the scores, all of the games were determined by four points or less except two of them. That 16 to 3 win by the Patriots over the Chargers isn't that unbelievable. Especially considering how underwhelming the Chargers have been most of the season. I'm honestly not a Chargers fan at all, but at 11-6 on the season they clearly did better than my Detroit Lions. Until they didn't.
Then we have the game that took place last night. The Houston Texans dismantled the Steelers 30 to 6. It's starting to look like Pittsburgh's bet on the geriatric Rodgers isn't paying off. He needs to call it quits already and go hang out with his conspiracy buddies.
Despite other games being closer, the most thrilling game of the weekend was probably the Bears 31 to 27 win over the Packers. I had all but given up on the Bears after watching a little bit of the game. Then they went and scored something like 25 points in the fourth quarter to come away with the win. They sure haven't made things easy this season have they?
The Rams had a bit of luck taking down the Panthers 34 to 31. That was actually a pretty good game. It felt really familiar watching Stafford spend a lot of the game on his back and then pulling out some amazing plays to get them the win.
I was also happy to see the Bills take down the Jaguars 27 to 24. I've been pulling for the Bills for a while now. They have had a solid team, but just haven't been able to pull things together when it counts. Maybe this will be the year....
Finally, we have the 49ers taking down the Eagles 23 to 19. That was probably a bit of a shock to a lot of people. With the Niners being a six seed and the Eagles being a 3 seed.
That brings us to the coming weekend and the division playoffs. I'll talk more about that later in the week!
