What Draft?

Probably the biggest news in sports right now is the NFL draft. If you live in the US I guess. The rest of the world is probably more concerned about the world cup. I honestly don't know. I have been in 100% softball mode lately if you haven't noticed. While I find the draft interesting, it really doesn't have much to do with me. That is to say, I have zero control over it, and I don't really have an emotional investment in any of the players who declared, so I don't really find myself watching it.
Yes, I do care about the Detroit Lions, but again, I have no control over who they pick. I'm more concerned about how they play in December, January, and hopefully February versus who they do or don't pick in April. I apologize to those of you who get really into the draft. I mean do disrespect. I'm sure @hanshotfirst will be doing a post pretty soon about who the Bears did or didn't pick. I'm excited for him. I love that he is so passionate about his hometown team. I get it.
That isn't to say I won't do a post about the draft, but this weekend while it is happening, it's not at the top of my mind. I've got my niece playing a double header today in softball, and another game tomorrow before she gets to have a bit of a break and focus on her final exams.
Meanwhile, the MLB season continues to roll along.
Those damn Yankees are at the top of the American League and the AL East with 16 wins. The closets team(s) behind them are the Cleveland Guardians and the Detroit Tigers in the AL Central each with 14 wins and 12 losses a piece. Then we have Tampa Bay, Texas, and The Athletics with 13 wins each.
Kansas City and Boston sit at the bottom of the AL with 8 and 9 wins respectively. I hope for their fans sake they can turn things around. Though I don't really mind seeing KC doing so poorly as a Tigers fan.
In the National League, the Dodgers have fallen out of the top spot and conceded it to the Atlanta Braves. The Blue Bombers still sit at the top of the NL West with 17 wins, but San Diego is close behind them with also seven wins.
The NL East belongs to Atlanta with 18 wins by a long shot. The closest team behind them in that division is Miami with only 12 wins.
Then we have the NL Central with The Cubs and Reds sitting at the top with 16 wins a piece. Sadly, Philly and The Mets are the two worst teams in the NL East and the whole National League with only 8 and 9 wins respectively.
Congrats to the Colorado Rockies for not being last!
That tight race in the NL Central should be exciting to watch unfold over the course of the season. There isn't a big gap between the first team and the last team. Then you have the other three teams slugging it out in the middle. It's quite similar to the AL West. I will definitely be watching both of those conferences closely.
