What a difference a week makes...

Once again while the majority of the world is focused mostly on the World Cup, it is easy to forget that baseball has been taking place pretty much non stop over the past week. Well, except for the traditional rest days on Monday and Thursday of course. Given the fact that it is summer, I will be entering my adjusted work schedule at my job, so that means I probably won't be posting on Friday's anymore until things go back to normal in August.
It makes me a bit sad, but I am also excited about our 4 tens work schedule. It gives me the chance to get some time off without actually having to take time off. It's honestly one of the best decisions my employer has made in the past ten years or so. I wish it was a year round thing to be honest.
As you might expect, there is a lot that has stayed the same in the MLB, but there is also a lot that has changed.
The Yankees remain at the top of the American League and the top of the AL East with 48 wins. Tampa Bay sits below them at 44, then Toronto with 39, Baltimore with 38 and Boston with 32. Right now it is looking like the AL East will be representing the AL in the world series. There is still a lot of baseball to be played though.
In the AL Central, the Chicago White Sox are sitting at the top with 41 wins, then we have Cleveland right below them with 42. It still throws me a bit to see a team with less wins at the top, but you have to consider their head to head record when you are viewing stuff like this. Minnesota has 38 wins, and then Detroit and Kansas City are down at the bottom both with 34 wins.
Over in the AL West, Seattle leads the pack with 41 wins, Houston has 39 wins, The Athletics and Texas both have 38 wins, and then the Angels bring up the bottom with 34 wins.
Over in the National League, The Dodgers have raced to the top of both the NL and MLB as a whole with 52 wins. Below them San Diego is way down there with 42 wins, Arizona has 41 wins, San Fransisco 33 and Colorado rounds out the NL West and the MLB at the bottom along with the Red Sox with 32 wins.
Next, we have Milwaukee in the NL Central with 49 wins, then St. Louis with 42, The Cubs with 43, Pittsburgh with 40, and Cincinnati with 37 in the NL Central.
Finally, in the NL East, Atlanta sits at the top with 48 wins, Philadelphia is right below them with 44, Miami with 42, Washington with 41, and The New York Mets at the bottom of the NL East with 34.
Like I said, we aren't even halfway through and there is still a lot of baseball to be played, so who really knows what might happen. You better believe I am hoping for a late season Tigers run. It would be awesome to see them in the playoffs again!
