Rounding the bases back to the MLB

I've been covering softball so much over the past couple of weeks that it has been a while since I shared the major league baseball standings with you. I actually have a bit of softball news I was hoping to share with you today, but the news hasn't officially dropped, so I feel like I should hold off until the time is right. Sorry for being so cryptic, but hopefully you will understand when the time comes. Just trust me that I am not doing this for myself, but for someone else.

To say I have been disconnected from baseball lately would be an understatement. I typically at least try to keep up on where things stand in the MLB, but this has been a busy time for me and I am still trying to figure everything out.

Let's get to it though.

In the American League, the Yankees have taken a commanding lead with 45 wins on the season. Tampa Bay has slid behind them in the AL East with 41 wins, and then Toronto, Baltimore, and Boston bring up the rear with 36, 35, and 29 wins respectively.

In the AL Central the Chicago White Sox are the top team with 38 wins which puts them quite a ways behind the Yankees. Oddly enough, the Cleveland Guardians sit right below them with 39 wins (wait, what!?), then Minnesota with 35 wins, and Detroit and Kansas City at the bottom with 30 wins. This is a far cry from the Tigers team we saw clawing their way in to the playoffs the past couple of seasons. I honestly find it a bit depressing, but as they say it is a long season and there is always hope.

The White Sox must have beat Cleveland in their head to head match ups for them to still be sitting above the Guardians despite having one less win.

Finally, in the AL West Seattle is sitting at the top with 38 wins, then the Athletics are right below them with 36 wins. Texas and Houston are tied at 35 wins a piece, and the Angels close out the division with 30 wins. That puts Boston at the bottom of the AL, but not so far that they don't have a bit of hope with their 29 wins.

Over in the National League, the Dodgers have moved to the top of the pack with 48 wins on the season. Rounding out the NL West, we have San Diego with just 38 wins, followed by Arizona with just 38 wins. Which honestly would put them at the top of two of the divisions in the AL. San Francisco has 31 wins, and the Rockies are still struggling with only 28 wins.

In the NL Central, Milwaukee takes the top spot with 45 wins followed by St. Louis with 40 wins. The Cubs have 39 wins and the Pirates have 38 wins which leaves Cincinnati down at the bottom with 35 wins (still better than a lot of teams in the AL Central!).

Finally, in the NL East, Atlanta is holding onto their lead with 46 wins. Philly has 40 wins with Washington close behind at 39 wins. Miami rounds out the bottom with 37 wins followed by the Mets with 33 wins.

As I said, that leaves Colorado at the bottom of the entire MLB, which I still find quite sad. We aren't even halfway through yet though, so you never know what might happen!
