On the flip side

You will have to forgive me, if you can even see the image in this post, it is clearly a baseball/softball image, however, my post today is going to talk about basketball. Confusing right? It's just that I took so many good photos on my trip this past weekend that I wanted to share them with you. Assuming HIVE isn't screwing up with images like it has been lately.
So while I have been watching some amazing softball and men's basketball, the ladies have also been doing their thing in the NCAA tournament. Last Friday we had four games in the Sweet Sixteen taking place at various locations around the US. Namely, Fort Worth Texas, and Sacramento California. I'm a little ashamed to admit I had to look up Sacramento. I had a brain fog and couldn't remember if it was in Cali or Florida there for a while.
Anyway, like I said, four games on Friday. Six seed Notre Dame took down two seed Vanderbilt 67 to 64 to move to the Elite 8. Likewise, 1 seed Connecticut hammered four seed North Carolina 63 to 42, as well as one seed UCLA smacking four seed Minnesota upside the head 80 to 56. Finally on Friday we had number three seed Duke taking down number 2 seed LSU 87 to 85 to proceed in the tournament.
Saturday gave us another four games with two seed Michigan besting three seed Louisville 71 to 52, and one seed Texas taking down five seed Kentucky 76 to 54. The other two games were one seed South Carolina beating four seed Oklahoma 94 to 68, and three seed TCU beating ten seed Virginia 79 to 69.
Sunday we started the round of 8 or elite eight, but the games went about the way you might expect. One seed Connecticut took down six seed Notre Dame 70 to 52, and one seed UCLA beat three seed Duke 70 to 58.
Monday on the other hand is when things really got interesting. Well, sort of. South Carolina beat TCU 78 to 52, and Texas hammered Michigan 77 to 41. What I find most interesting about these scores is the Texas/Michigan game. There was a point in the game with only 5 minutes left that Texas was beating Michigan 69 to 29. The fact that they were able to ultimately score 44 points speaks more to the lack of effort at the end on the Texas side of things more than the effort on Michigan side.
As a Michigan State fan, I am more than happy to see Michigan fail so miserably.
So now we wait until Friday when South Carolina takes on Connecticut and Texas takes on UCLA. Oddly enough, that means it's only 1 seeds left. I have a feeling we are going to see more and more of this due to the transfer portal and NIL deals.
