Not mad about that

I was sitting in my office on Tuesday when Radford had their home opener game against The University of Virginia. As I mentioned in my post earlier in the week, the game was broadcast on ESPN+, and although my niece didn't get a lot of play time as a freshman, she did get to pinch run. That gave me the opportunity to snag some great shots of her when the camera just happened to pan her way. She's a natural, am I right?
Unfortunately, the Highlanders from Radford fell to Virginia 2 to 0, but I am not really mad about that. If you follow college softball, you know that right now Virginia is one of the hottest teams in Division I. They currently have the longest winning streak of any team, so the fact that Radford was able to hold them to only two runs is pretty impressive.
The Radford softball team recently finished a complete renovation to their field. It was in progress when @mrsbozz and I visited down there in the fall. The turf was all rolled up sitting in the parking lot waiting for the rest of the field to be completed so they could roll it out. They also got a new scoreboard which our niece was saying is really awesome. We talked to her that night after the game via video chat and she was really excited about how awesome their shiny new facility is. She was also happy to be playing some home games since they have been on the road most of the season so far.
As I said, this was the home opener for them at the new stadium, but not the beginning of conference play. They still have a few more weekends before that happens. This coming weekend they are heading to a tournament at Virginia Tech. Actually, they will just drive back and forth each day because VT is just down the road from Radford.
Meanwhile, in the World Baseball Classic, the exhibition games have finished up and we have now pool play games getting started. I am not going to recap all the scores from the exhibition games, but I would like to point out that on Tuesday Israel beat the Miami Marlins 1 to 0 and Italy beat the Chicago Cubs 9 to 4, sorry @hanshotfirst. Meanwhile, the USA team hammered the San Francisco Giants 15 to 1, and Great Britain took down The Milwaukee Brewers 7 to 3. Finally, on Tuesday Mexico beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6 to 3, the Dominican Republic beat the Detroit Tigers 12 to 4, and Puerto Rico upset the Boston Red Sox 5 to 3.
The upsets continued into Wednesday where the Canadian team beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 3, The Netherlands took down the Tampa Bay Rays 11 to 8, Nicaragua beat the St. Louis Cardinals 2 to 1, and USA hammered the Colorado Rockies 14 to 4.
Which leads us to the late pool play game last night between Taipei and Australia. Hats off the to the Australian team for beating the opponent 3 to 0.
There are two more pool play games today, but due to one of the games being played on the other side of the globe, it has already been completed. The Korean team took down the Czech Republic team 11 to 4. Tonight Australia faces the Czech team at 10 PM EST.
Then tomorrow we have 8 games taking place starting at 5 AM EST. Are you going to watch any of them?

I’m a Cub hater!!!! When I still followed baseball, I was super into the White Sox.
