Lucky Number 17!

I just realized the other day it has been a while since I last posted about the Tiffin Dragons Softball team. I want to apologize in advance, I might cover some stuff I already covered in a previous post, but I want to make sure I give you the full scope of their achievements this season.

While my niece is likely no longer on the roster at this time, I still plan on covering the Dragons as I have grown quite fond of them over the past two years and they will always be a large piece of my nieces story. Plus, they are just killing it right now and so fun to watch!

Back on April 22nd, they had a double header against Cedarville University and they once gain swept that series with a 4 to 3 win and a 17 to 0 win in five innings via run rule. From there they had another doubleheader the next day against Ashland University. This series ended with a split. They lost the first game with a close score of 4 to 3, but they bounced back and won the second game with a similar score of 4 to 3.

This past weekend they capped off their season with another sweep of Malone University beating them 9 to 1 in the first game and 6 to 2 in extra innings in the second game.

This puts Tiffin in the 17th place as far as national division II rankings go. This is the highest they have ever been ranked in the history of the program. Pretty awesome right?

On top of that, today they start the G-MAC tournament with another game against number 8 seed Malone University. Needless to say, Tiffin is the #1 seed in the tournament.

I will be streaming the game today at noon to see how the Dragons do in the first round of the tournament. I believe the format for the tournament is double elimination, so they should have a bit of life left in them even if they somehow fumble what should be a pretty easy game.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how they do and I will be back with an update for you tomorrow as well as some more news about the Radford Highlanders softball team!
