Going Streaking

It's been a while now since I have written a post about the Tiffin Dragons Softball team. Yes, my niece is technically no longer playing for them, but she is very close to graduating from the university and for the first few years of her college life the softball team was a big part of her identity. So much so that she is now coaching a grade school team herself. They actually had their first game the other day and though it was a blow out loss for them, I think the young ladies are lucky to have my oldest niece as their coach. She is going to give them a wealth of softball knowledge and skills that they wouldn't be able to get the same way somewhere else.
I am beyond proud of her.
Despite her absence, the team continues on, and they have been building themselves a pretty great season so far. I can't quite recall when I left off giving you updates on the Dragons, but I am going to pick up somewhere in the middle of March.
After an early game 4 to 2 loss against Parkside on March 14th as part of a double header, the Dragons run ruled the Rangers in the second game 9 to 1 in five innings. That started a small win streak of six games that encompassed Davenport University 7 to 2 and 8 to 4, Cedarville University 7 to 4 and 10 to 1 in six innings, and finally the first game of a double header against Ashland University 5 to 4 that went into extra innings.
They then lost the second game against Ashland 11 to 5. Their next series against Gannon University was cancelled, but starting on April 2nd, they strung together another win streak that is still in effect today.
It all started with a 1 to 0 and 10 to 2 in six innings victory over my hometown university Northwood. I have a friend who works there as well, it's a nice uni, but I am glad Tiffin beat them. They then faced another Michigan school with Hillsdale College. This ultra conservative college is down in the southern part of Michigan south of Jackson and kind of in the middle of nowhere.
While in the past Hillsdale has been a tough opponent, this year they crushed them 11 to 6 and 8 to 0 in six innings to extend their winning streak.
More recently, they faced Malone University at the beginning of the week sweeping them 2 to 1 and 7 to 0, then just yesterday they took down Lake Erie College 10 to 0 in five innings and 11 to 2 in six innings. That puts the Dragons on something like an eight game winning streak heading into a weekend trip to Kentucky to face Kentucky Wesleyan College on Saturday and then Thomas More University on Sunday for a pair of double headers.
After that they only have ten more games before they head into the post season. One of those series is against Ohio Dominican who they are currently sitting below on the conference standings in second place. If they can best OD, they will earn the top spot in the conference.
