Division II Finals Set

The stage is officially set for the Division I Softball finals. After a four pack of stunning games last night he favorites were taken out and we now have an all Texas championship game. I'll write more about that tomorrow though. Today, it's all about Division II. While the highly televised and publicized stuff was happening over the weekend, there were still a lot of D2 things happening.

Starting on Thursday when Saint Leo beat St. Thomas Aquinas 4 to 2, Missouri Southern State beat Glenville State 5 to 3, Cal State San Marcos handed West Texas A & M their first loss 5 to 4, and finally, McKendree squeaked past North Georgia 1 to 0.

That set things up for a couple of winners bracket games on Friday where Saint Leo knocked Cal State San Marco down to the losers bracket 5 to 3, as well as McKendree doing the same to Missouri Southern State 3 to 2.

Unlike the D1 tournament, this set up a quad of games for Saturday down in the losers bracket. First we had West Texas A & M knocking Saint Thomas Aquinas out of the tournament with a 10 to 2 throttling. It was followed up by a 5 to 0 shut out of North Georgia over Glenville State.

In the later games, Missouri Southern State took West Texas A & M into extra innings, but fell short in the 9th losing 6 to 3 and finding themselves out of the tournament. After that, Cal State San Marcos had an easy 7 to 1 victory over North Georgia allowing them to move on and sending the ladies from Georgia back home.

Finally, on Sunday we had the games that determine the two teams that would face each other in the finals. Saint Leon continued their dominance with a 10 inning thriller against West Texas A & M that saw Saint Leo winning 5 to 4 and cementing their spot in the finals.

Then we had an interesting game or two between McKendree and Cal State San Marcos. It looks like there might have been a weather delay or something, but ultimately McKendree came out on top 4 to 3.

This sets things up for a best of three series starting today with McKendree facing Saint Leo. I have a feeling Saint Leo is going to come out on top, but don't quote me on that!

They will likely play again tomorrow, then if a game three is required it will happen either tomorrow after the first game or on Thursday. I'm not exactly sure what the schedule looks like.
