Best Laid Plans

I actually planned on posting this post on Friday, but things didn't work out so well for me. I'm still going to post it today even though some of the items are a bit out of date. Then tomorrow I will pick up with my regularly scheduled posting:
It's going to be a pretty big weekend for sports. We not only have the men's and women's final four in NCAA basketball, we also have some more World Cup qualifiers on the soccer side of things. If you are into that... :)
Believe it or not, I was actually watching a bit of the World Cup qualifiers the other day when the US as facing Portugal or something like that and Japan was battling England. I didn't watch the end, so I couldn't tell you if England or the US lost. They were when I was watching.
As for basketball, I almost don't care about the games this weekend. As I said before, my bracket is busted, so I don't really have a vested interest in any of the teams on the mens side of things. If anything, I am just hoping for a Michigan loss. The problem is, they are looking so good this year. I honestly think that them facing Arizona is the best chance of them getting taken down in the tournament.
If they had been on the other side of the bracket versus Connecticut or Illinois, they would likely be going to the finals as a sure thing.
It honestly makes me angry how good they are, because Michigan State has been praying for a season like that ever since they won it all back in 2000.
However it goes, I fully expect the team on the Arizona/Michigan side of the bracket will be the ultimate champion. They just seem stronger than the other side of the bracket. Crazier things have happened.
Before we get to the men though, we get to watch the women play tonight at 7 PM EST and 9:30 PM EST. Like I plan on staying up that late! These could actually be some good matchups. South Carolina faces UConn in the first game, then we have Texas and UCLA in the second game. I wouldn't want to bet against any of these teams to be honest.
You know I will also be watching a bit of softball this weekend. With basketball wrapping up, I have a feeling softball is going to become more of a staple in our house.
Just for fun I decided to look at the World Cup standings as of yesterday, and it looks like Japan is at the top of their group, so I guess shame on me for thinking they weren't that strong of a soccer nation.
Also kind of interesting that they have the US and Iran in the same group, but I think someone posted abou that already.
I'm sure the players can be more adult about the whole thing than the politicians. Hopefully anyway!
