All Knotted Up

If you are a lazy bum like me, you probably haven't watched a single game of the world series this year. Call me a cranky old man, but when you get up at 4 in the morning, going to bed before 8 PM kind of becomes a necessity. This means with a first pitch of 8 PM, I am probably not going to get too much baseball watching in.

It's sad, but true.

It's kind of a shame because there have been some really good games from what I can see. As of today, the series is all tied up at two games a piece between the Blue Jay's and the Dodgers. After that monster game three that went 18 innings and lasted close to seven hours, Toronto stormed back 6 to 2 in LA to make it an even race for the pennant.

I was talking to my niece last night on video chat and I asked if her dad stayed up for the whole game. She said he fell asleep, but then woke up at 1 AM and finished watching the rest of it. He's made of more sturdy stuff than me! He also doesn't get up at 4 AM every morning to work out before work...

During our conversation, another interesting piece of information came to light. I hadn't heard this before, so credit to my niece wherever she picked up this nugget of information from. She said that during the two longest world series games ever recorded (one of them being game three this year), the singer of the national anthem for both of them was Brad Paisley.

I've been to a Brad Paisley show before and despite what you might think, his singing has absolutely zero impact on how long the event is going to last. It was a great concert, but it didn't last seven hours!

Right after our niece dropped that bit of knowledge on us, @mrsbozz turned to look at me and said you better include that in one of your posts!

So here we are! I don't think many people will actually read this, but maybe with the new sports community started by @blanchy that will change. I hope it does anyway.

I'd been thinking about creating my own sports community apart from that other one on here for quite some time now, so I am happy to see this come to fruition.

Anyway, back to the World Series. Game five takes place tonight at 8:00 PM in Los Angeles. I will be on the road, so I will likely be staying up later than usual, and I might actually get a chance to watch this one. At least some of it!
