An Unexpected Meditation on Light, Dark & Why You Should Leave the House Once in a While

Let’s talk shadows. Not the metaphorical ones your therapist yells at you to embrace, or the childhood traumas she wants you to reprogram—but actual, photogenic, “dang, that tree has better cheekbones than me” kind of shadows.

🏃‍♂️ Canal Walks: My Side Hustle for Sanity

Life’s been busier than a LinkedIn influencer at a networking brunch. Meetings. Calls. Life admin. You know the drill. But thanks to those gloriously long spring days, I found myself walking along the canal later than usual. What started as a casual “I need to breathe” stroll turned into a spontaneous audition for the Shadowhunters Photo Contest.

And yeah, I’m calling it "canal therapy with extra contrast." 💁‍♂️

📸 The Shadow Line-Up

1. Duck and Shade

This one is serenity incarnate. Trees draped over a gentle canal, a duck casually existing like it owns the place, and the shadows playing peekaboo like they just figured out how light works. Beautiful? Yes. Dramatic? Meh. This is the calm before the shadow storm.

Great for a wallpaper. Not great for winning a photo duel with people who chase moonlight like it’s a Black Friday deal.

2. Glare and Glory

Boom. Now we’re talking. That sun is punching through the tree like it's late for a motivation seminar. Shadows stretching like they’re trying to escape their 9-to-5. It’s intense. It’s raw. It’s what I imagine Gary V sees when he opens his eyes in the morning.

You can almost hear the soundtrack swelling. This one’s a serious contender.

3. Twin Shadows of Destiny

This one? Chef’s kiss. The sun is framed perfectly between two trees like nature lined it up just to flex. Shadows stretch all the way across the path like they’re reaching for legacy, ambition, and that one last Dorito on the table.

This is “Shadowhunters” meets “Inspirational Instagram Reel” meets “actual skill.” Dramatic, intentional, and cinematic AF.
