It is simple. HIVE lacks a figurehead, or a killer app. Look at all the big tokens. There is some official organisation or figurehead in charge. Either that or there is some killer app that draws people. It was Splinterlands for HIVE back then.

Being a decentralised entity makes it not easier to go towards a common goal. Everybody works a bit in his own way and on what he or she wants. This can be a kind of waste of ressources compared to a centralised entity where one body defines what is worked upon.
