Greetings @zekepickleman ,

Appreciate your thought-full reply.

You wrote...
"I love a truth I learned early that “Success isn’t about doing the things you like to do. It is liking the things you have to do.” That, to me, is discipline."

So true...I would add or say it this way....'You enjoy whatever you do because you have capacity.'. You have a grounding in reality....not luck, not magic. That capacity for life comes from a number of things...self discipline, authority orientation, ie Traffic signals etc./respect for chain of command. No matter how much one gives a child....if they have these things...they will not become Spoiled.

I had to smile when you said this...."Enjoying being bad at things til you become good at them is discipline too I suppose." Indeed. ^__^

To be good at anything...we need the three D's....desire, determination, dedication. I had an Art Prof who started each class lecture with this principle. Anyone can see...you have it in spades in your Beer Production...do you not.

Thank you for dropping by.

Kind Regards, Bleujay

Well put!

As I worry about the youth, as parents inevitably do, I am thinking the desire is a little lax based upon the competing desire for convenience and peace of mind. Hopefully lessons learned create the knowledge that convenience is earned (or occasionally gifted) and happiness is a decision. Dedication and determination is fueled by desire for sure!
