Greetings Dear Reader;
.
Hope you are well and enjoying fine weather wherever you are.
What a Principle...right....Let's give it a look...'
'Know what you choose.'
You may think it too simple really. But what we choose has both indirect and direct effects on our lives and since we are held responsible for our decisions, perhaps it would benefit us to give some thought as to how we use our volition.
What is volition, you might ask. From the dictionary...."1. Act of willing or choosing; exercise of the will." I will or I will not. " 2. The power of willing or determining.
Your volition is yours, your power.
Back to the Principle.....'Know what you choose'....may make more sense now. When a decision is in our control...perhaps we will approach it from a different perspective....that of responsibility, ownership of your decision. One of the ways we take responsibility is by becoming knowledgeable about the subject which requires our volition in the matter before we make the decision.
For example: an everyday choice...what to eat...if there are foods that we know do not agree with our physiology....should we imbibe?...that is our choice. If yes...then we take responsibility for that decision instead of blaming the chef...circumstances...etc. Other examples could be; what we believe, where we live, who we marry, who we associate with, how we spend our time, etc..
Let's give this Principle a think...shall we.
Wishing you all the best...God's best!...
.
'For God loved the world so much, that He gave His uniquely born Son (Jesus Christ) so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.'John 3.16
.....translation from the original Greek language of the New Testament...
It is faith alone in Christ alone for eternal life.

Oh, beautiful roses in wonderful colors today! I know that I would choose them. 😊
Greetings @gen-quimba ,
How very kind of you to drop by with your lovely reply....thank you. ^__^
Kind Regards, Bleujay
You are welcome, @bleujay, I am always looking forward for your new posts! 😊
Those are beautiful flowers. Like you said, our choice has a way of shaping us in life. What we eat, career, marital. All the all the important aspects of human life are based on our choice in life. Whether we make it in life is also really on our choices, too.
Greetings @toluwanispecial ,
Thank you for your kind words.
So true....so true. ^__^
Kind Regards, Bleujay
"Peony and Piano" is an extra nice touch, but all of them are glorious.
The principle is also very important ... this year I am choosing to not be in company with people who are looking to not be responsible for their choices. The Lord Jesus clearly told us to both count the cost and that we will be responsible for even every thoughtless word ... got to walk in accord with that and leave people not trying to understand alone!
Greetings @deeanndmathews ,
How very kind of you to drop by...with your lovely compliment and wise response to the Principle....thank you.
Your words brought to mind 'Psalm 1'.
Kindest Regards, Bleujay
That is a good reference to go with that ... my mind was further down in Proverbs, but hey, I love the Psalms, so, right on!
Your peonies are gorgeous! Peonies were my mother's favorite and she had a lovely bush in the center of the back yard. My dad was mowing one day and not paying attention, he mowed it down. I believe they nearly divorced over that lol. Luckily, they did not :)
The principle seems particularly apt for today's world. Think twice, choose once. Thank you for the beautiful peony memory!
Greetings Tammy,
What a lovely comment....thank you for dropping by. ^__^
Oh my goodness...that could very well be called a catastrophe....yes...I am quite happy to hear they made it through that very tough time. ^__^
My pleasure.
Kind Regards,
Bleujay
NB new Sailing post....
Thank you for the information!!
Good example with food, you eat a food but you might eat harmful food made with bad ingredients or with animal suffering on factory farms... The list is endless and when we choose we never think at every consequence
Have a good weekend my friend!
Greetings @davideownzall ,
Thank you for your thoughtful reply
You are correct....we can never think of every consequence.....which is why the Principle is not ...'Know absolutely what you choose.'...as that is impossible.
I think simply understanding we have minds to do the logical thinking that decision making requires and are held responsible for it....is the purpose of this Principle.
Cheers, Bleujay
You take some pretty nice photos... I'm glad to see you're into Flowers...

Greetings @zuliquijada22 ,
Thank you and thank you.

It's like that, my friend, for better or for worse, the choice always has to be ours, nothing and no one should make it for us, because that's what life is about, being able to make mistakes and having the opportunity to correct that mistake so that it doesn't happen again, while at the same time improving as people.
Greetings @hjrrodriguez ,
Appreciate you dropping by with your thoughtful reply...well said.
Kind Regards to your familia,
Bleujay
Sometimes I have made a choice based on what I thought I knew, but it turned out not to be the best choice, but it was the best I knew at the time I made it.
If you think you know all you should know about a decision and base it on that, it is sometimes a surprise when it does not work out well.
Too bad I have not always been smarter.
Greetings Jacey,
Very kind of you to drop by.
Appreciate your thoughtful response....indeed...we do the best we can based on what we knew at the time.
We are thankful the principle does not say....'Know absolutely what you choose.' as that would be impossible.
You said,.."If you think you know all you should know about a decision and base it on that, it is sometimes a surprise when it does not work out well." This has so proved to be true for me...especially in online ordering of things.hehe
That missing element of seeing a product in person....leaves unanswered queries I did not know I had....something like that.
Hindsight is always 20/20....so they say and I believe. ^__^
Cheers, Bleujay
An interesting approach, dear @bleujay. People make thousands of choices every day. They should think carefully about what they choose and what they don't choose. However, everything we don't choose is unknown. If I choose to go to the market today, something might happen to me on the way. On the other hand, if there is an earthquake, I will be lucky that I went to the market because the probability of death at home is higher.
Greetings @incublus ,
Appreciate your kind reply....all too true.
Yet....to know what we choose...will never include all there is to know about any given subject...there is always something unknown to be sure.
However to be conscious of a certain responsibility for what we do choose, somehow brings a certain gravity to the process of choosing.
Thank you for dropping by. ^__^
Kindest Regards,
Bleujay
It seems like you and I are writing about the same flowers at the same time. Just yesterday I was posting about Peonies )) Have a nice day, dear @bluejay 😊
Happy to hear your thoughts.....interesting!
Responsibility or choosing to live responsibly is one of the areas of life that many people never focuses on. I understand that knowledge can be hard, but there's really no way to choose responsibility without putting in the work that comes with it .

(Your volition is yours, your power.)I totally agree with this phrase.)Some people say they are willful, and they are, but we must take into account the so-called side effects, which is why our will must be linked to our analysis and therefore our decisions.
Greetings @lupega ,
Thank you for dropping by with your thoughtful reply to the Principle....appreciate it. Well said.

I myself really like taking pictures of flowers like this, and it takes effort to find a beautiful place and go there to take the photograph.
Happy to hear your thoughts...thank you!
You have chosen a very difficult to understand principle @bleujay :)
On the one hand, a person's independent choice is welcomed... in the world and with God, but only a person's choice of God's path is a good choice, and everything else is given to the will of God.
All the rest of the decisions we make are not from God.
My track record includes so many decisions and choices made by me personally that it would be scary to think about it if one day I did not know God.
Blessed day to you!
Yes, the peonies are magnificent, as are your photographs, I can imagine what the aroma was in the room when you took the photographs :)

Well then @bleujay this principle you have presented to us in your post really is quite a philosophical matter which requires some degree of deeper thought.
Volition and the human will are sometimes a complete mystery to me. Other times it all makes perfect sense. You are absolutely correct to highlight the fact that decisions, ownership and knowledge are all interconnected.
We must take responsibility for decisions that are wholly within our control, and making the right decision must come from a place of knowledge and intellect. Without knowledge and wisdom we are susceptible to making too many impulsive decisions, which don't always turn out for the best.
My word I could go so much deeper into this, your principle of know what you choose also prompts a very psychological analysis because principle and psychology are closely intertwined.
As for the icing gorgeous photos of those flowers packed with real character and uplifting colours.
