Apple win me back ?

So as I mentioned in the last post I ended up getting me a a used macbook, now back in the days I got into the apple ecosystem I started with an I pad ended up getting a macbook air, mac mini. and ended up getting a super high end macbook pro unfortunately the time I decided to get this $5+ plus laptop back in the days was the time when apple had a fall off.

Well I left apple for a long while until a few days ago and all in the name of AI 🤣
I love my server I put together a pretty beastly machine and for a reasonable budget, but the beast is power hungry I could build another one but my current wiring can't handle that kind of load, and there is another option that with unified memory

You can way smaller machines that can do some reasonable heavy lifting, be it not quite at the same speeds as my beastly server, but some of the more recent ones maybe able to beat the raw generation speed.

But for AI it is not just about speed, it is about your VRAM no matter if it the latest generation or one a few behind if the older hardware has more VRAM it can load up bigger models the newer chips will just be able to run faster.

So far I am pretty happy with it this new macbook I paid a about 400 more for it then a single one of the 3090 GPU's in my server and a bit more then the actuals T630 that houses them.

This thing has 32GB of unified memory and 1TB of storage nothing crazy but it is very snappy, it is able to load up and do things faster then my server (to be fair I am using a remote connection with some XRDP that adds some lag).

But even though server is not so snappy and slower to load once it loads up it is a lot faster and generating then the macbook also they use different architecture the server has 3090 with CUDA cores most AI tools and apps are built for it but there are still a fair bit of apps you can run on the apple architecture.

I am thinking of starting to make videos of showing folks how to get started with AI and other nerdy shit
