The Relationship Between Electricity And Agriculture.
There was a time when my dad wanted to own a farm. He owned it already but needed to start making it function and when we were opportune to meet the person who will help us manage the farm, he mentioned electricity.
“What’s the relationship between electricity and agriculture?” my dad asked. Then, the supposed manager began to give so many reasons and usage of electricity in agriculture.
Here are a few reasons why electricity is needed in agriculture:
On the farm, one of the most important things that farmers will need is water. And when it is a large scale farm, there is no way they will start fetching water from one place to another but when there electricity and a bore hole water, the only thing which will need to be done is pumping the water.
If there is electricity, it will be very easy to pump water on the farm. Every farm needs water so as to keep them alive.
How about the usage of tractors and machinery? There are some tractors now that are electric tractors including some other machines. Also, the only way to make them function is through the use of electricity.
That’s to show us that electricity wins also on the farm.
Also, when we’re done planting, how do we process and package the crops? We can’t achieve that if there is no electricity. We will be needing sealing machines, fridge to preserve some crops and the only way to achieve them is electricity.
Without electricity, many crops will get spoilt in less than a few days because there will be nothing that can be used to preserve it.
How about the greenhouse? Every good farm now has a greenhouse because of ventilation systems. The greenhouse can either cool or power heating on the plants.
If there is no electricity, that will never be achieved so we need electricity.
Lastly, your farm doesn’t have to be a large scale farm before you input the use of electricity into it. As little as a farm can be, it needs the use of electricity.
For the aspiring farmers, never underestimate the importance of electricity on your farm.
The need for electricity to carryout certain agricultural activities cannot be overemphasized.
