The Midnight Threat.
Threats can be actions that invokes harm on whoever is being terrified. Threats can come in different ways. It can come physically, emotionally and mentally. In one time in our lives, we all must have been threatened and that has happened to me so many times.
The country is not in its best state and the level of security is weak. Due to this, so many people have been harassed and threatened mostly physically including myself and I’ve experienced this a lot.

Sometime two years ago, I went home for a family dinner as I was prepping for my convocation from the university. The family dinner went well and we all went to bed. I was having a good sleep until I heard my mum scream ole (thief). I jumped out of my bed and ran to the living room. My dad was there already battling with the thieves through the window as they were about to enter the house.
I ran back to the room to put on a cloth and went back to where my dad was and started throwing some irons we had at home to the thieves. I wasn’t even really threatened yet until one of the thieves brought out a pistol and shot at my dad. That was the highest threat I’ve felt in my entire life.
I was threatened because it is my house and some people have the guts to go as far as shooting at us in a house that has our names on it. Eventually, they got inside. We were robbed and were locked in one of the rooms.
How did I react? The first slap they gave to me when they finally got inside the house was enough to make me calm. Then, I learned something. Life is in two ways. When you are being threatened physically, it is either you surrender or fight back. Come to think of it. What if you surrender to a weak person and what if you fight back a very dangerous person.
If we didn’t fight them, the robbery might have gone well for them and they might have beaten the hell out of us. Also, they might not have brought out the pistol to shoot at us. The gunshots was the most terrifying thing that happened that night.

Do you ever believe that threats makes people develop trauma? Till this moment, I haven’t healed from the trauma of what happened at that night. I felt sick, tired, lost weight and got admitted into the hospital for days.
Threats have its way of making us sick and for a long time, we may still feel threatened.
It was a sad experience and I would never want to experience such anymore. I’ve accepted the fact that I am from a country where threats have taken the lives of so many people.
They may be empty threats but have led people to doing what they never thought they would do and have claimed their lives as well.
