Since The Time I Stopped Believing The Media.
If there is anyone who so much believes in the media, I should be the one and if you’re asked to pick someone, don’t go too far because I’m here. I know I may not watch the CNN news every now and then, but I’m always on social media checking what’s happening around the world or even in people’s life including the celebrities.
The online world is full of so much beauties here and there. The media comes to us to give us hope about the country and gives us some goodnews. Also, our online celebrities buy new cars everyday and do all sorts of things then sometimes, I ask myself if truly how this world is which brings me to this week’s prompt.

What’s something you used to believe in strongly, but no longer do?
The media, of course. The online world, social media, and even Tv stations. The TV stations are just like the closest ones to us when it comes to us trying to reach the government and they also pass informations from the government across to we masses.
That’s what they are meant to do but now, I am surprised. I am surprised to see them lie and try to cover up for the government. I guess some of these TV stations get paid by some government officials to put down something’s out of their contents. This isn’t a lie and so many of us know this. The only people who may be able to shed light to such situations are those who were present.
Just like the Lekki toll gate massacre, a lot of people there knew what went wrong but the media, showed something else entirely.
For the social media, that’s where the biggest lie resides. It’s only on social media you will see that everyone is fortunate. No one is broke, poor or sad on social media. Then, I used to believe what my friends post online until I knew about Snapchat filters, car rentals to take pictures and others.

This means some of these people do not even own what they post online. Since then, I stopped believing all I saw on social media.
What changed your mind?
I started getting more realities of life. The more I grew up, the more I explore. I was lucky to meet new people who are very familiar with the online world and I see how they make their posts. I see how they fake things and how some other celebrities lie and we will eventually know what they lied about so that changed my mind about believing the media.
Also, I was caught up with watching Money Heist series two months ago. I saw how the media lied to the people so that they will believe them and forget all the bad things the government has done. It’s crazy but that’s actually what happens in this world and since then, I don’t even believe the media again.

If it’s possible to do my investigation, I will get it done and if it is not possible, I will just keep flowing with what I see online.

I did believe in the media once in my life but that was when I was like 12 I think, it changed quickly after some encounter I had with the real truth about them.
Now, we watch the media for the fun of it, not everything is true.

As a kid, there was nothing portrayed on TV that I did not believe. The realistic ones and non-realistic ones, everything was possible. And the same thing is what we see happening on social media. It is left to the individual to decipher between what is real and what not to avoid avoidable problems
