Arthritis, A Manageable Medical Condition.
Arthritis can be known as a medical condition in which the joints of the body experiences pain, stiffness or inflammation. When talking about the joints that gets affected with arthritis, they are; knees, shoulders, hips, hands, wrists or other parts of the body.
There are various types of arthritis like; lupus, gotus, rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, psoriatic arthritis and so much more.
Surely, people will feel a certain way before it is discovered that they are suffering from arthritis. There are various symptoms of arthritis which are; stiffness of the body joint, pain, redness and swelling. You have to note that arthritis only deals with the joints so experiencing any of these in the joints means one is likely to have arthritis and that can be diagnosed by the doctor with the right tests done.
What causes arthritis? Many things! Sometimes, arthritis happen naturally due to one’s age. There are some people who naturally develop symptoms of arthritis once they clock a certain age.
Some people as well have too much uric acid in their blood. When there is too much uric acid in the blood, one may develop gout which is very likely to lead to arthritis.
We have different immune systems. There are some people whose immune system causes them to have arthritis. That can be known as the rheumatoid arthritis in which the immune system attack its own body and then cause arthritis.
Arthritis is common in older people but this doesn’t mean that younger people cannot develop arthritis. And when it comes to gender, arthritis is common between women. Most people who suffer from arthritis is the female gender. Athlets also suffer from arthritis because they might have stressed their body joints especially the knees which causes some kind of inflammation after a few years of being athletes. Anyone whose job demands too much movement of their joints is likely to have arthritis too. This doesn’t have to affect everyone who falls into that category but so many of them.
To diagnose arthritis, the health worker will examine your affected joints and also ask about how you feel on those joints. Then, there are some tests that will follow that procedure to be sure that the patient is suffering from arthritis. A few tests that needs to be done to diagnose arthritis are X-ray, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound or a computed tomography scan. With all of these, arthritis will be successfully diagnosed because the imaging will help the healthcare provider to see whatever damage that may be inside your joint.
Can arthritis ever be cured? No, it can’t but there are treatments that can be done so as to manage the symptoms. And there isn’t a general treatment for arthritis as it is mostly treated based on what causes the arthritis. Well, there are some common medications for arthritis which are disease modifying anti rheumatic drugs, physical therapy, corticosteroids, anti-inflammatory medications or even surgery.
For the surgery, the two most common types are the joint fusion or joint replacement.
Can one live with arthritis? Yes, but not easy. As long as arthritis can be managed, it means it is possible to live with it. Well, everyday task may be painful and difficult and that’s why it is always advisable not to stress whichever joint that is suffering from arthritis.
Eating healthy will also help one live conveniently with arthritis. Eating starchy foods, fruits, milk and others should be eaten by people with arthritis for them to live healthier.
Arthritis is a medical condition that can be well managed.
