WHEN THE BODY RESISTS THE CURE

When tolerance becomes a threat the human body has a very funny way of resisting drugs or getting used to drugs we abuse in the name of self medication.I remember a friend of mine lizzy , the way she gives her drug prescription shocks me most times and am like did you study pharmacology all this our home certified doctors with first class in pharmacology. Being in the health sector I have come to release that drugs and their usage is something that should not be taken for granted at all.

This is my entry for hivelearners weekly contest and the topic is (WHEN TOLERENCE BECOMES A THREAT) When you go to some houses you would see that some of them have drug containers where they put different kinds of drugs and they literally have drugs for any kind of sickness you can ever mention, things are happening , some even go as far as cutting the packets of the medicine and stick them to their walls,freezer and doors just so they don’t forget them and also practicing self prescription and that is very dangerous to the health.

For some people it’s the stress of going to hospitals , there are a lot of protocols to be followed when it comes going to hospital, getting good health care system is very expensive and most times its far from reach. And when it’s the same sickness with the same symptoms , we just go for the easiest option which is the drugs that we have always known. Sometimes when you go to the hospital you don’t get the attention you need immediately and in some serious cases people loss their lifes in the process and this are experiences no one wants to have .

Tolerance to a particular kind of drug can really be a threat. So many people abuse drugs on daily basis especially antibiotics and painkillers any small sign of sickness and they rush to abuse one antibiotics or the other and antibiotics gradually get used our bodies and no matter how much wed take them they never work for us again for some they would take more pills that is way above the prescription just because they want the medication to work faster, the fact that a particular medication cured a particular disease dose not mean it would work again.

As a young girl who just started seeing her monthly flow newly it didn’t come with so much pain at that time but as time progressed it became very painful to handle I dreaded each month because I breakdown completely and I cannot do any thing because the pain is overwhelming.

So I started taking piroxicam a pain killer which is popularly known as felvin, I took it for so long that my body got used to it sometimes I pick up a card and just wish I could swallow it all to relieve the pain am feeling. But then my body became resistant to it and no how many I take it wont work and I had to consult a doctor who advised to try and endure the pain sometimes and limit too much intake of painkillers.
