THE JOB OF TEACHERS BEYOND THE CLASSROOMS

The role of a teacher has always been within the walls of the classrooms right from the beginning of the world for the truth is that teachers are supposed to teach not just within the environment of the school or their classroom because students do not automatically stop learning once they leave. So as long as the learning does not stop outside the classroom teacher should also be able to impact knowledge and correct their students outside the classroom.

This is my entry for hive learners weekly contest edition 1 this brings about the topic does the teachers training stop within the walls of the classroom or dose it continue outside should the teacher see a student from their school misbehaving outside or bullying someone should they correct and reprimand the students outside the school walls. This is a very vital question that should be looked into.

For me I believe teachers are supposed to extend their lesson on discipline outside the walls of the classroom. Teachers are people who are looked up to for their sense of responsibility, integrity, honesty and discipline. If a teacher finds their students misbehaving outside as a human the first thing that comes to their mind is reprimanding the student or correcting them trying to set them on the right part for life by telling them that what they are doing is not right. Legally the role of a teacher ends within the classroom and the school premises any action taken outside the classroom is no longer in accordance to be teaching conduct.

Disregarding everything if the student behavior is dangerous and illegal the teacher should be able to correct the students no matter if it is in the school premises or outside the school premises depending on the gravity of the situation at hand. In some of the schools we have now most of the private schools put up rules that the teachers under no condition should have anything to do with the students outside the school environment no matter what the students do you have no right to correct them or say anything about it and if a teacher should go against this rules they are at risk of professional hazard and losing their jobs.
If a teacher should discipline a student outside the school premises over a certain behavior or a certain action that they see them taking and it does not end as a supposed to be or maybe something goes wrong and something happens to the student in this case this school does not have any authority to protect the teacher because this happened outside their school environment and when the parents of the child get information about what happened they do not think about it properly they just pass judgment on the teacher and the teacher will be the one to receive the backlash.

In as much as teachers have already been educated on discipline correction and integrity and they would want to keep that up , they should be able to understand that legal principles of apply if you see a student who is misbehaving outside school premises the best thing to do if you must correct then you give verbal corrections no inflection of physical punishment by laying your hands on the students , because if anything goes wrong you'll be the one to be punished and the school will not have a say over it because it did not happen within the school environment. So my dear teachers out there please be careful and always remember to be professional in all your dealings with students.
