Yesterday, ladies and gentlemen, began — and I must emphasize this — in a manner that can only be described as remarkable: again the familiar bicycle, yes, it was a freeing, a ride before breakfast! A decision that speaks of discipline, perhaps even a hint of asceticism. Then came the work: focused, withdrawn, in the home office — a mode not suited to everyone, but one that demands structure. A day which — if I may say so — possessed almost narrative qualities.
