Long held desires.
The ideas that pop into our heads as children can be very hilarious. As an educator presently active in the field, I hear a lot of beautiful childhood dreams from a lot of children but something in me knows that a time will come when those dreams would have to pass through the fire of reality and when it does, only a few might be lucky to still be standing on the other side with their dreams fulfilled.
As a beautiful girl child, I remember telling my dad that I wanted to become a fairytale princess. My dad would lovingly ask me ”why?. I would reply with ”I want to live in a castle, eat good food and wear pretty ball gowns”. After listening to my reason, my dad would only laugh, nod his head and tell me to work hard.
Do you want to know why I wanted to become a fairytale princess?
Well, the answer is quite obvious isn't it? I watched a lot of fairytale cartoons as a child and I fell in love with Cinderella the most. I wanted to be swept off my feet by prince charming and live happily ever after, hehe.
My dad wanted me to become a Lawyer. He felt that my talkativeness could be put to good use in a court of Law. Moreover, I was very argumentative as a child (*maybe I still am😁). I always chose to defend my actions or even my childhood friends especially when they're about to be punished.
My mom on the other hand wanted me to go into the medical field but it wasn't until I watched a certain movie where a doctor refused attending to a patient because of money, leading to the patient's death that I began to incline towards the medical field.
My dream of law phased out after I learnt that lawyers keep on studying and never stopped. My little mind could not comprehend why someone would keep going to school non stop because of a chosen field. So I switched from fairytale princess to Lawyer and from Lawyer to a doctor.
It was no surprise when I was placed in science class in secondary school. I excelled in my science core subjects more than other subjects and it only solidified my dream of becoming a doctor the more. That was until I learnt that doctors have many branches. I began to research for which branch would suit me best and I ended up with Obstetrics & Gynecology.....sweet right? (Blane my love for babaies😁)
Well, life happened and somehow I was not able to go further in that line. I later studied Biological science in Education which is what I'm currently doing.
My dreams didn't die. I'm still a princess, you can verify by my username, hehe. I'm also still a Lawyer though not in a law court. I defend the defenseless in my own way and finally, I still get to pitch in my Ob&Gyn skills when I teach my students on reproduction and reproductive system 😁.
Maybe one day, I'll get to work in a hospital as an Ob&Gyn specialist. My dream won't fade away, rather it will live on.
Thank you all for reading. This is my entry to #sci-fimultiverse prompt #18.

Those days we had so many dreams, our dreams were out of this world some we remember and just laugh at ourselves when we look at the type of country we were born into.
Exactly ooo. This country is also part of the reasons my dreams could not come true 😂😂😂
Fairy Princess Lawyer Doctor Becky. 😅.
No be today your love for food started. Imagine living in a castle and eating good food. 🤣
Hmmm, so many childhood dreams that went down the drain due to life happenings.
No be today ooo. You can say that again😂😂
Life happens. Moving forward is the only way. We no go die because things no happen the way we want na😁
Aww this was such a lovely read. It's funny how our childhood dreams starts off wild and sparkly, but somehow bits of them still sticks with us as we grow. I admire how you've carried each of your dream into your life in some way -you're still a princess (your username doesn't lie), a lawyer in spirit and totally a totally when teaching those science topics
Life might not have gone exactly as planned, but you've made something special out of it. Keep dreaming, you never know what's still ahead.
Yes I agree.
Thank you for your lovely comment. I appreciate you 🤗
My pleasure ☺️
Very few are lucky
Yeah
It's quite a journey so far, from wanting to be a princess to what you currently do. Good to hear that you've find ways to incorporate your long held desires into what you're doing now :)
I didn't have much clarity on what I wanted when I was young, didn't dream much during childhood :/
You probably wanted to be a power ranger right? 😂😂
😂😂😂 Not at all. Maybe an alien from Star Trek, dunno even how I'll become one of "them".
😂😂😂
Quite nice
It's funny how lot of us dream to become maybe doctors and end up being teachers.
Abi ooo. It is really funny 😂😂
Hahaha 😂 well, for me, I’d wanted to be a teacher as it was a dream fueled by an aunt in the neighborhood whom I helped to watch her pupils as a lesson teacher then. As at then, I was in charge of collecting lesson money which was #10 each day and then, it was a money valued and not like today. That zeal to become a teacher started from there and I am still in line even though I am not working for now but with the numbers of years I taught in schools, I enjoyed it.
Most times, we don’t get to see our dreams come to pass but in one way, we try to exhibit our dreams through other means just like yours.
😂😂😂
I'm gad to know that you enjoy our trade. Teachers are gems and inside our brain is embedded all other knowledge 😂😂
I love your determination, one day your dream will definitely come to reality. You are already doing greatly with that which you are doing though...but am sure you would do way better in those white coat.
Thanks for sharing.
I'm sure too.
Thank you so much. I appreciate
Very much welcome.
Yes o it will live on
Thanks ma
