One of the best things about Hive

Hive posts can't be deleted. Simple to say but generally underappreciated. In many cases having a record which is permanent and unchangeable is really important. One of those cases is when I'm keeping track of expenses for a mortgage I have been delegated to look after between family members.

Now this account was originally going to just support the BBH project. However, I need to track data for a mortgage I'm responsible for. Then I thought what if I use my little interest payment from that obligation to fund the account. Then show how even little amounts of money monthly can support a project and eventually even support HIVE in general. @bradleyarrow has been posting each day and every day for a couple thousand posts. Anyone who is that regular in supporting and posting on HIVE deserves some support. In that regard I've purchased just under 20,000 BBH tokens to get started.

In addition to that I wanted to buy 558 EDSI tokens to get a regular income of HIVE with which to build my HP and delegate to the project and use to support his node for witness. Unfortunately I wasn't able to buy that many EDSI at a good price so I only got 200 or so EDSI tokens. The rest? It went to HBD which I'll stake for the monthly income

Now here is the twist. I'll be using HIVE to serve as a safe place to keep data on a mortgage I'm watching over with power of attorney. Something that is not a usual thing on HIVE but hear me out.

I watch over a mortgage account. I accept the payments monthly. I calculate the interest for the mortgage holder. I need to keep track of money that is re-advanced. It is to be transparent because as power of attorney I need to make sure everything is tracked. Putting the monthly details on the blockchain mean that it is there, I cant change it, and anyone can see what I'm doing.

No forgetting what filename I put the spreadsheet on. No having to dig a file out to send to the mortgage holder or mortgage payor. If I make it public I can just give them the URL (or even just the username) and then they can see everything. Done.

Now I'm doing this for family and I'm not really charging anyone money to do it. There is interest that comes in every month for the money in the account. It is in the contract details that I get to keep all of the savings account interest as "payment" for services. Honestly most people would keep the money in a typical banking account and get virtually no interest and probably have a monthly fee to pay in addition.

I'm too cheap for that so no fees and 2.25% interest means I have a little something to invest monthly on HIVE.

Yes. It is a long chain but I'm curious how it will work over the months and years to come. If @bradleyarrow can do this daily for years I can try to follow and see what happens in the long term :)

The Mortgage Details

Originally I was going to keep an exact ledger....But a little real world caution came in and told me.... Maybe I don't want to include exact numbers. Instead I'll keep exact numbers and details off chain but put reminders and placeholders here so I can show that : Yes I'm watching and Yes I can keep track of what happened by checking the bank account and previous records.
