I should make a reservation here it is customary to divide plants into those that bring obvious benefits to people and those that heal them are called medicinal plants those that can cause harm to a person, but if you look into it then among the plants there are practically no plants that would not be used in traditional or folk medicine, even very poisonous plants are sometimes used to treat various ailments the question is only in the concentrations and in the method of using the plant.

To some extent this is a bit extreme lol, but today let's do without extreme medicine I chose a photo of a plant that is useful as a medicine and can be used as food.

Moreover this plant even without using it as a medicine indirectly heals, because it is one of the first to bloom in the spring and becomes an important source of nectar and pollen for honey bees, and honey pollen, propolis and bee bread are also components that heal the human body or are derivatives of a plant called Coltsfoot Tussilágo from the Asteraceae family.

Personally I would be hard-pressed to say how many liters of decoction from the leaves of this plant I drank as a child when I suffered from pneumonia and asthma and this decoction definitely helps and softens coughing since dried leaves poured with boiling water secrete mucus which helps remove phlegm from the lungs.

And when I was a child collecting medicinal plants and drying them the leaves of Coltsfoot were in first place, although it was not very easy to dry them in order to hand them over to the pharmacy.

There were no professional dryers then, and when drying naturally mold could grow on the leaves and I had to throw out the whole batch.

But since this plant grew in abundance along streams and other lowlands I did not give up and started this business from the beginning.

In addition to using this plant as a medicine we use freshly picked leaves for stuffing a dish called dalma or cabbage rolls.

In the original when preparing this dish, grape leaves or cabbage leaves are used but Coltsfoot leaves are no worse and give the dish a pleasant aftertaste.

In this photo you can see a Coltsfoot flower that was born in early March.
