LeoDex and LEO: Why I Keep My LEO on Arbitrum
At the moment, the USDC rewards I earn from my sLEO (that is, LEO staked on Arbitrum) are very low: the trading volumes on LeoDex are still not high enough to generate substantial affiliate fees, and this directly affects the dividends distributed to sLEO holders.
However, although the USDC rewards were one of the main reasons I was initially interested in bridging my LEO from Hive-Engine to Arbitrum, over time another reason has emerged — and while I’m still hoping those rewards will take off — it’s now what keeps me from moving them back to Hive-Engine.
My 5000 LEO on Hive-Engine could indeed generate some curation rewards, likely even with a better APR, although those rewards no longer come from LEO inflation — since the max supply has already been reached and the excess burned — but from the SIRP, a mechanism through which the LEO token is bought on the market and then distributed to users.
On Hive-Engine, however, my LEO would be much more difficult to access: once on Hive-Engine, LEO tokens can be moved only through the Leo Bridges website, which has very high fees — currently 10.5% — and they can increase without warning. Once, due to a large price gap between LEO on Hive-Engine and Arbitrum, I ended up paying a 34.5% fee on a transfer... which at the time was about 70 dollars 😅
This makes moving the LEO token out of Hive-Engine potentially risky, and expensive even under normal conditions.
For this reason, since I’m interested in performing price arbitrage operations with this token, I’ve concluded that for me it’s preferable to lose some small potential gains on Hive-Engine but keep my LEO on Arbitrum, where I can use and move it with lower risk.
In fact, on Arbitrum there are two different pools available for the LEO token, and that alone allows me to arbitrage its price without having to rely on bridges.
Moreover, Arbitrum is connected to Polygon and Binance Smart Chain through LeoDex, not Leo Bridges: probably the transfer fee on LeoDex is also high and variable, but I’m not certain — while 70 dollars are enough to confirm that Leo Bridges’ fees are absolutely variable 🤣
Caution
Experience has taught me to be cautious: giving up a small profit to avoid the risk of losing much more money later seems like a valid reason to keep my LEO on Arbitrum, regardless of how low the USDC rewards I receive may be.

LeoDex e LEO: Perchè Tengo i Miei LEO su Arbitrum
Al momento le ricompense in USDC che ottengo grazie ai miei sLEO (ossia LEO in staking su Arbitrum) sono molto basse: i volumi di scambio su LeoDex non consentono infatti ancora di generare ricompense - affiliate fees - sufficientemente elevate e questo si riflette nei dividendi distribuiti ai possessori di sLEO.
Tuttavia, sebbene le ricompense in USDC fossero uno dei principali motivi per cui ero interessato a spostare i miei LEO da Hive-Engine ad Arbitrum, con il tempo si è aggiunta anche un'altra e diversa ragione che - in attesa che queste ricompense decollino, cosa in cui ancora spero - mi spinge a non riportare i miei su Hive-Engine.
I miei 5000 LEO su Hive-Engine potrebbero infatti generarmi un po' di curation rewards, probabilmente anche con un APR migliore, sebbene adesso queste ricompense non provengano più dall'inflazione di LEO - la max supply infatti è già stata raggiunta e l'eccedenza bruciata - ma dal SIRP, un meccanismo attraverso il quale il token LEO è acquistato sul mercato e poi distribuito agli utenti.
Su Hive-Engine, però, i miei LEO sarebbero molto più difficilmente accessibili: una volta su Hive-Engine i token LEO possono essere spostati esclusivamente ricorrendo al sito Leo Bridges, che ha commissioni molto alte - attualmente pari al 10.5% - e variabili in aumento senza preavviso, tanto che una volta, in presenza di una forte differenza nel prezzo di LEO su Hive-Engine ed Arbitrum, mi sono ritrovato a pagare il 34.5% di commissioni su un trasferimento... che all'epoca sono equivalsi a circa 70 dollari 😅
Questo rende il trasferimento del token LEO fuori da Hive-Engine potenzialmente rischioso, oltre che costoso anche nell'ipotesi standard.
Per questo, dato che sono interessato ad effettuare operazioni di arbitraggio del prezzo di questo token, ho valutato che per me è preferibile perdere dei piccoli potenziali guadagni su Hive-Engine ma tenere i miei LEO su Arbitrum, dove posso utilizzarli e spostarli con minori rischi.
Infatti su Arbitrum sono disponibili due diverse pool per il token LEO e già solo questo mi consente di arbitrare il prezzo del token senza dover ricorrere a bridge.
Arbitrum, inoltre, è collegata a Polygon e Binance Smart Chain attraverso lo stesso LeoDex, e non Leo Bridges: probabilmente anche su LeoDex la commissione per il trasferimento è elevata e variabile, ma non ne ho la certezza - mentre 70 dollari mi assicurano che quella di Leo Bridges è assolutamente variabile 🤣
Cautela
L'esperienza mi suggerisce perciò di essere cauto: rinunciare ad un piccolo guadagno per non rischiare di rimetterci molti più soldi in un secondo momento mi sembra un valido motivo per mantenere i miei LEO su Arbitrum, a prescindere da quanto basse possano essere le ricompense in USDC che ricevo.
