If a ship arrives at a port and has drugs on board, or the owner owes millions in taxes, customs will say, ‘Impound the ship.’ In English-language news, this often sounds dramatic (e.g., when yachts belonging to Russian oligarchs are seized).

In this context, in recent years in Venezuela, properties have been confiscated and bank accounts with huge amounts of money have been frozen, specifically in the United States, whose owners are the corrupt politicians who today keep the Venezuelan people in check.

Responding to my friend @sacra97, in her recent post related to today's prompt, what has been seized will be legitimately returned, but not under this regime, but under a legally constituted and democratic one. I am very sceptical that this return will have a positive impact on the Venezuelan population, as the people have always been ‘submissive’ and, for as long as I can remember, have been content with crumbs.

Perhaps I will not live to see the future, where the oppressive regime will be overthrown not only in Venezuela, but in all oppressed nations. In the meantime, we will continue to hear: ‘Confiscate the ship!’, just as the phrase ‘dispose of it’ repeatedly uttered by the cause of my beloved Venezuela's misfortune echoes in my ears.

El “Tropo” de la Ciencia Ficción

Fuera de la ficción, es una frase muy seria en el mundo marítimo y legal. Si un barco llega a un puerto y tiene drogas, o el dueño debe millones en impuestos, la aduana dirá: “Impound the ship”. En las noticias angloparlantes, esto suele sonar dramático (ejemplo: cuando incautan yates de oligarcas rusos).

Bajo este contexto, durante los últimos años en Venezuela, han sido confiscadas propiedades, bloqueado cuantas bancarias con groseras cantidades de dinero, específicamente en los Estados Unidos, cuyos dueños son los políticos corruptos que hoy mantienen en jaque al pueblo venezolano.

Respondiendo a la amiga @sacra97, en su reciente publicación relacionado con el prompt del día de hoy; lo incautado será legítimamente devuelto, pero no en este régimen, sino en uno legalmente constituido y democrático. Que esa devolución tenga un impacto positivo en la población venezolana, yo soy muy escéptico al respecto, pues el pueblo siempre ha sido “sumiso” y desde que tengo memoria, ha sido conformista con las migajas.

Quizá no viva en los tiempos futuros por venir, donde el régimen opresor no solo sea derrocado de Venezuela, sino de todas aquellas naciones oprimidas. Mientras, seguiremos escuchando: “¡confísquese el barco!”, tal cual resuena en mis oídos la frase «desprópiese» repetidamente pronunciada por el causante de la desgracia de mi querida Venezuela.
