The Real Currency: My Time, My Choices

Time is one thing we all get equally 24 hours. But how we spend it? That’s where the difference lies. Lately, I’ve been asking myself, “Am I truly using my time the right way?” It’s a hard question, but necessary.

Sometimes I feel like I’m productive, ticking off tasks, making progress. Other times, I find myself procrastinating putting off the important things because I feel overwhelmed or distracted. I’ve learned that procrastination doesn’t make problems go away it just delays the growth I’m supposed to experience.

Is 24 hours enough? It depends. On days when I stay focused and avoid distractions, I feel like a time management pro. But when I fall into the rabbit hole of scrolling social media endlessly, 24 hours feel like 10. Time flies when you're not paying attention.

After my daily responsibilities, I try to invest time into things that grow me reading, writing, or just reflecting. These moments keep me grounded. But I won’t lie, I sometimes waste time too. And often, it’s online.

One major thief of time, especially for young people, is social media. Not using it to learn or grow, but mindlessly scrolling, comparing, or consuming content that adds no value. I’ve been guilty of this too. An hour on Instagram becomes two. Then I wonder where the day went.

To me, a waste of time is anything that leaves you feeling empty afterward. If it doesn’t add peace, joy, knowledge, or purpose it’s not worth it.

Being part of the Sci-Fi Multiverse community and with this honourable topic will give me more awareness of how I be using my time. In a universe full of endless possibilities, time is the one thing you can’t rewind. So I’m learning to treat it like gold because once it's gone, it’s gone.
