War of Egos

Every time a policy, law, or legislation is put into effect, there is a legitimate justification that supports it. Media campaigns may even be carried out to convince people that things will change for the better. Over time, we realize that the benefits are not real, or simply that the rules are the product of some big shot’s ego.
That’s exactly what happened in my hospital recently. This is another reason why I hate that place so much. There’s a whole war of egos that, like in any conflict, only affects the subordinates. One of our bosses came up with the idea that medical scrubs can only be worn after 6 p.m. during night shifts. They declared it illegal to use this type of clothing in the morning.
However, there isn’t even an illegitimate justification for doing that. It was imposed simply because that’s what one of my bosses wanted. Dictatorship stuff. I suppose those are behaviors learned in totalitarian regimes, though not exclusive to them.
It is very dangerous for high-ranking public officials to have self-esteem issues. An institution egocentrics or narcissists. I think Trump today is the best example of what I mean, and the top candidate for the Egocentric of the Year Award.
That is costing lives, which I believe is the highest price humanity can pay for allowing egotists to lead. But when I bring it down to a smaller scale, I discover that the cycle begins from below. I could mention quite a few problems at the place where I work, but the bosses would rather look at some much smaller, sometimes nonexistent issue, just to divert attention.
At this point, nothing can surprise us anymore. Whenever you see injustices around you, always remember that everything can be replicated on a larger scale. Egocentrics begin their training from the moment they are just a simple foot soldier.
