"Tired" was my state that Saturday morning. I had finished my shift on duty, but I had to stay a few extra hours for reasons that made me extremely angry, and there was no way around it. So everything pointed to the rest of the weekend being shitty.

When I got home, my wife was waiting for me with a smile stretching from one side of her mouth to the other. I was still upset, so I had to hide my bitterness a bit. She reminded me then that in the afternoon we had a get-together with some of her friends. There went the hours of rest I had planned for the entire afternoon. But hey, it’s the weekend. I’m not the ogre who brings bad vibes to parties. So, what could possibly go wrong?

And there we were, my wife and I, in the middle of those crazy friends of hers, who always crack a joke about anything that comes to mind or happens there. I even felt motivated to throw out a joke for the audience present. I didn’t even know I was so good at stand-up comedy. Nah, just kidding, but I did get a few laughs out of those crazy bastards.

Someone came up with the idea of talking about marijuana, and whether there was any chance of getting some. But the truth is nobody knew where to find it, and with the beer we had bought it was more than enough to lift our spirits. By the way, don’t use drugs, my friends—I wasn’t going to consume it either if it had shown up there.

After so much complaining, I ended up having a really good time. I forgot the way the day had started so much that I wish more situations like this would happen to me. You never get everything you want, so you have to relax and let time pass a bit when things happen that you don’t want.
